Clive was unique. To me, he was a genius. That one offbeat stroke on the snare drum... it's for the ages. No other drummer on earth would have come up with that idea. And that song is a good example for his (kind of) "reverse" style - he put the accents everywhere else than where a "straight" drummer would have put them. My deepest respect to him. R.I.P.

Clive Burr was a very creative drummer, just the accent on the snare changes the feel of the bar. Quality drummers are hard to find so still ridiculously difficult to believe Maiden would sack Clive Burr. They were never the same after Beast.

Yep I started playing in the mid 80s, you can clearly hear these aren't Zildjian. Bonham, Ian Paice, Stewart Copeland, Nick Mason, etc etc etc you know the list that used Paiste back then and still do, except Bonzo he's playing with Clive in heaven. It also makes me sick to my stomach why Clive was asked to leave. The indulgence's lies really pi$$ me off to this day

@@Twotontessie He wasn't "fired" per se, He was asked to leave. Clive's father died and he wanted time away to spend with family, Steve wanted to keep going and they had word's, Nicko was sitting in for him while he was gone, when he wanted to come back Steve just asked him to walk away so being the humble guy Clive was he said "well I wasn't going to argue the matter if they want me gone I'll just walk away so I did and there was no arguments" The rumours of Clive missing gigs, messing up being drunk and a puke bucket by his drums is just that "rumours",in all of the Beast tour, Killers I as a drummer never heard Clive mess up at all on the contrary! Clive said himself the so called "indulgence's" was bs. There's a couple interview's with Bruce and he said in regards to Clive quote "I didn't like the way the Clive thing went down, not to take anything away from Nicko he's great but Clive was the best drummer this band ever had" There's another one where he's up Steve's arse so was Adrian saying Clive couldn't handle the Rock and Roll lifestyle rubbish. In fact it was Paul that was fired for excessive partying

Alright musicians, give this a thought. First I must say I read the posts and some of you said how can a band ask this man to leave the band? I completely agree, I think the main man is the one and only Steve, he didn't want to give Clive some time off to spend with family because his father died, I find this sickining. Work work work! The puke bucket and Clive's rock and roll "indulgence's is bull****. I can't believe Adrian said this in a interview not long ago he knows this isn't true. If you Google "Why was Clive Burr asked to leave" Clive came out finally and said the indulgences were completely not true" Now from what I remember Nicko was asked if he wanted the job, he said he didn't want to step on any toes and get in the middle of anything, then he was asked very stern, DO YOU WANT THE JOB OR NO?" He said ok. So I can't blame all on Nicko, would you leave a blues band making peanuts to be in Iron Maiden? Now what I wanted to say to fellow musicians (I started playing drums in 83 at 17) I want to make a comparison. I think Clive Burr and Randy Rhoads were so alike. Two very humble great human beings that were so great and took from us too soon. Clive was asked to leave coincidentally the same year RR died. And when Clive left Maiden the band was different, to me they weren't the same. Ozzy's music the same, when Randy was gone you clearly hear the music was not the same. Two great humble men RIP, you were at the top few of the greatest musicians I ever heard!!
