Iron Maiden is one of the greatest doors you will ever open, thanks for this, up the Irons.

This was based on a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson called the Charge of the light Brigade, based on the Battle of Balaclava! But the charge of the light brigade was a military mistake, basically the orders were messed up and the light brigade instead of repositioning on the flank was sent into battle without support!

Maiden! Maiden! Maiden! Up the Irons! As other posters have mentioned this movie is Charge of the Light Brigade starring Errol Flynn. 25 horses were killed in the scene. After it was filmed Errol Flynn had to be restrained from attacking the director because of ways the horses were treated. This film lead to Congress passing laws to protect animals used in movies.

40 yesrs ago, this song changed my life. The Live After Death version was the first Maiden song I had heard. I was blown away, and I had the thought that my life had changed. This music was going to be a part of my life until the day I died. 40 years later, they are my second favorite band, and I have lost count of the number of times I have seen them live. I shudder to think of how many thousands of dollars I have spent on the band in the past 40 years

Unfortunately you are right to feel bad about the horses. Alot of horses died and alot of the actors were injured during the filming of the battle scenes in that movie. Those falls were all real and done by using trip wires to make the horses and riders fall. It was made worse by the fact that there was so many of them and they were often bunched together in tight groups so that when one fell, two or three others did as well, sometimes landing on top of each other. Some of the riders I recall also got trampled by the horses coming up directly behind them while lying helpless on the ground. The director was more concerned with getting "the most realistic battle scene ever captured on film" than the safety of the horses and actors. It led to laws being passed banning the use of trip wires in horse/ fall stunts on movie sets thereafter.

It's a rubbish film and far from accurate BUT the charge sequence is awesome despite the terrible cost in horses. The actual Charge was quite astonishing in its suicidal bravery, despite the huge losses they took the battery but were destroyed as a unit. It was a blunder, poor staff communications, bitter personal hatred between the Light Brigade Commander, Cardigan and Lucan the commander of the Cavalry and his brother in law. They charged down the wrong valley... The courage of the troopers was astonishing. The film does get the uniforms correct and the light horses but they only show the 17th Lancers. Lance's being more dramatic, most on the day were Hussars armed with sabres

"The beat is like a horse." They use a galloping rift often. they do it great.

Yeah, the guitar players' speed and dexterity sure are impressive. But, lest you forget: did you notice bassist and main man Steve Harris and how fast HIS fingers are moving? And on these thick bass strings, no less. His lightning fast, gallop-rhythmed fingerstyle playing is a very important reason why Iron Maiden's songs are so instantly recognizable even among a myriad of other talente d bands. It's the groove that does it! Oh yeah. He's an amazing songwriter and lyricist too. This song is only one among myriads who demonstrate that.

The earliest footage of war that still exists was filmed on12 November 1899 by John Bennett (UK) during England's campaign at Orange River, South Africa during the Boer War (1899-1902).

The iron maiden Galloping bass lines provided by Steve Harris is iconic and Bruce Dickinson‘s vocals are out of this world and of course you can’t forget about the triple guitar harmony solos and Nico McBrain blistering tempos on drums that’s what makes Iron Maiden so special.

They used trip wires to make the horses and riders fall. Unfortunately, it led to many horses getting killed and actors getting hurt. The director had those horses and riders galloping at top speed when alot of them fell. Some riders even got trampled by other horses or the falling horses landed on riders further injuring them,. It was all a mess. After that movie they enacted laws banning the use of tripwires in movie horse stunts, so something positive came out it. The horses did not die in vain.

You're right. There was no filming that far back. But you will be surprised to know that the very first actual film footage was in the late 1880's around 1887. But there was no sound in them yet.
