ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

I don’t care what anyone says, the Blaze era was absolutely amazing. His voice suit the dark and somber tone of the albums. I’m glad that Bruce came back when he did, but at the same time, I’m grateful for the time that Blaze spent with Maiden because we got these two incredible albums. The X Factor got me through one of the most dark and hopeless moments of my life, and I can’t be more grateful for it. I wish that this was put on the album.

This song is great. Love the lyrics and the change of melody & tempo. Again you're right, Bruce is Bruce. He is basically the voice of Iron Maiden. But Blaze did a kick-ass job on this song. He hit the nail right on the head of this song. The music and lyrics scream out Maiden & I don't think anyone else could have done a better job than Blaze. Again Bruce can sing ANYTHING but this is all Blaze & makes this song come alive. UP THE IRONS 🤘🤘

@Logan Waltz I totally love his shows, albums in his solo career, but I still think he made a big impact to Maiden aswell as their later music....OK maybe the loss of Bruce and Adrian made a difference, at least to many of their fans, maybe because I´m a quite recent fan, maybe not, but I simply love this era, to me there are so many Golden Gems and masterpieces written and performed during this era, I´m not sure what weak songs means to you, my guess would be Angel and the Gambler and Don´t look to the eyes of a stranger....but even if theese songs are repetetive, that could be said about many of their later songs aswell.....

I had no idea this song existed until today! My wife got me some Trooper ale for Fathers Day and the Virus bottle lid was there, looked it up! No clue how I missed this back in ‘96 though but great to see Blaze singing again, I’ll always prefer Bruce, but Blaze did an amazing job with Maiden 🤘🏼

The winter of 1996 when BEST OF THE BEAST was being released, Virus (unreleased, new at the time) was the first track on the double album and it was a small promotional and selling point of the new compilation. Of course, it was also released as collectors’s singles, but those were usually harder to find and much pricier.

Couldn't disagree more. Some of the best Maiden material ever has come from the reunion era, in particular BNW, DOD and AMOLAD, which are comparable in quality to Maiden's glory years. No hate to Blaze, but 90's Maiden is the worst Maiden has ever been. Bruce's solo stuff, on the other hand, is amazing.

@CVM GAM nah, AOB and CW are classics with virtually no filler, and I can count the number of filler tracks on the first three reunion Maiden era albums on one hand. Classic Maiden though? Half of NOTB, POM and Powerslave are filler. SIT is a bit more solid than the previous three albums, but lacks the standout tracks. The only one that really doesn't have either of these issues is SSOASS.

brilliant song! One of the best from the 90's! the reason it did not appear at X factor was because the song was written after the X Factor tour as a reaction of media's negative focus on the band and Blaze at the time.. Personally I think Blaze is a great vocalist and he do not deserve all the shit some people say about him. The reason Maiden is still playing is because he saved their ass during the 90's. If not, Harris probably would have given up the band.
@MichaelHolmgaard
@MichaelHolmgaard 9 жыл бұрын
Blaze was a fine vocalist, but he did not save the band. Hundreds of people auditioned for the spot, and Steve got many tapes send to him. He even considered Michael Kiske at one point, because he was the only one available, who could sing the old tunes with some dignity left. But he wanted a British singer, and for some weird reason he chose Blaze, who, though he is a good singer, did not at all fit into the Iron Maiden style, and was totally unable to sing songs from the Bruce-era :/
@MichaelHolmgaard
@MichaelHolmgaard 9 жыл бұрын
***** That´s my point. They should have chosen a singer who was able to sing the songs. Come on man! You cannot tune down a Maiden-song, they are way too complex and melodic.
@MichaelHolmgaard
@MichaelHolmgaard 9 жыл бұрын
***** You think that "The X Factor" is their best album ever?! Okay, that it maybe a matter of taste. I know they did not want a Bruce-clone, but it doesn´t make any sense to chose a singer who cannot sing the old anthems. If they changed their name to something else, and said that they didn´t wanted to play their 80´s stuff again -it would be fine! They continued to play old songs like for example "the Trooper" and it became rather embarrassing when they did.
