They are a great band and exceptional live performers to be able to share with the next generation. I took my sixteen-year-old son to see them in Detroit in October. It wasn't my first IM concert, but it was his. We were both blown away. These guys keep sounding brilliant year after year. I wish they would have played Hell on Earth during this tour, as it is my favorite from the Senjutsu album, but the show was absolutely stellar nonetheless. Maybe on the next tour (fingers crossed). Hoping for some material from Seventh Son on the next tour as well.

Occasionally, a band writes a masterpiece that just has that "last song of the night" feel. It just soars, musically and lyrically. It makes you think about life. It touches your heart. I still remember the first time I heard this song. It was September of 2021 and we were traveling as a family to the ranch, seemingly in the middle of nowhere in Mexico. We started playing Senjutsu to finish it as we arrived at the ranch just right after midnight. The song began to play just as we left the highway and entered a dirt road connected to the ranch. All five of us fell into a deep silence in the middle of nowhere, in complete darkness, with no sound but the notes of this melody. As the song ended, my father broke the silence with a simple "wow." I nodded in agreement. As we arrived, I tried to remember the first time I listened to Iron Maiden. My memories of a Sunday morning when I was around 10 years old (Now I am 30), sitting in the backyard after breakfast, came flooding back. I recall my dad turning on the CD player and listening to "Running Free." and since then, it started being my favorite band. The band had evolved since then, and they aged very well. I thought that If Iron Maiden never released another album, this song would be the perfect way to conclude almost 50 years of career.

@@DM-rc4yu It makes the songs feel like actual, entire books or a whole movie when it's parted down with intros, themes, a musical motif. It's truly like entering a new world when realizing the content as a whole. The contemplation of life persists here; where you know it in your soul that the Earth we live on is one of the most bitter, dark and depressing lands to exist. Steve Harris clearly outlines what it's like to stare into the abyss and acknowledge you just really want to pass on and yet somehow have gratitude, rather than have a deep complacency of holding the one "answer" to all the woes on Earth.

A year and four months later, and I still get emotional listening to this song. I was just blown away the first time I heard it. Everything about it is a masterpiece - the intro has a way of hypnotizing me, Bruce’s vocals are so full of raw emotion and anger (“love in ANGER,”) the guitar solos are just stunning (I literally gasped in shock the first time I heard Dave’s solo,) and the gorgeous guitar harmonies. This song doesn’t get old no matter how many times I hear it. This isn’t just my favorite song on the album, but my favorite Maiden song of all time.

Meh. Boring album, TOO DAMN SLOW. This is worse than X Factor, not a single great guitar riff, especially the classic double harmonics that made Iron Maiden become what it is. Which is astonishing considering they have like 6 guitars. It sounds more like Celtic music or something, not heavy metal. And especially not Japanese.

This album just grows on you after each listen. Every song you think 'could be better' at first becomes a masterpiece after you listen to it again and again. And maybe it's not like 80s maiden. But it doesn't have to be, we can listen to those albums if we want fast paced 80s Maiden. But this album along with Book of Souls are perfect examples of a band that keeps expanding and evolving. Brilliant stuff and I look forward to the tour.

Many people want Maiden to go back to writing fast-paced, 4-5 minutes heavy metal anthems like they did in the 80s. I'm not one of those people. Like you said: If we want to hear fast Maiden the 80s albums are there for us to enjoy. Maiden of today doesn't write that type of music. They have evolved and it's a pleasure to follow them expand their musical horizons. I can't think of one legacy band that is still around that has aged as well as Iron Maiden. There is a sense of maturity and musical growth in latter day Maiden that I think only Rush have been able to compete with. I know it's the norm to talk about the 7 classic 80s albums when it comes to Maiden, but as far as I'm concerned, the 6 reunion albums are equally as valid when it comes to the band's legacy.

If Senjutsu didn't come out, their last song would have been Empire of the Clouds which was also an incredible ending for their career ("The dreamers may die, but the dream lives on"). Now there's Hell on Earth, another fitting finale for a band... But at this point I know that a 18th album would not have a disappointing ending, so their legacy (heh) wouldn't be tarnished... Bring it on! (more likely than we think, since Senjutsu is already 2 years old they might have already some ideas for their next album)

Beginning of a sunrise bores a big hole in the sky Not to reason why that armed children are in this world And fighting in the name of God's way Mourning bleak and utter waste The vanity of the world is assured now Prey upon the weak no more The spirits of those who are gone Propaganda of the battles That are lost or won And count your blessings still alive Of those who managed to survive Inside oblivion of that hell on Earth All you have been, all you have seen Lost in somewhere in your dreams How the angels they have fallen All is nothing what it seems And the voices that you hear now And the voices in your head Now are thinking of a lifetime You can never feel again I wish I could go back I'll never be the same again Bled for all upon this hell on Earth And when I leave this world I hope to see you all again On the other side of hell on Earth Upon the eyes of good I'm following the light again In between the dark of hell on Earth On the other side, I'll see again in heaven So far away from this hell on Earth You dance on the graves who bled for us Do you really think they'll come for us? Knowledge and virtue, taken by lust Live on the edge of those that you trust You think that you have all the answers for all In your arrogant way only one way to fall Burning a lamp that is fire in your hands Taking you further from these lands Love in anger, life in danger Lost in anger, life in danger Love in anger, life in danger Lost in anger, life in danger

Hell on Earth is a piece that lasts 11.19 minutes and not a second is left over. Time passes, you will not look at the clock to know when it is over, but you will be wishing it never ends. Because it will raise your mood; because it is epic; it is melodic and triumphant. You were born to win! The melody pauses and speeds up when appropriate: "love in anger, life in danger" "love with anger, life in danger". It is the best conclusion for Senjutsu. It is reminiscent of The Final Frontier, "When the Wind Blows." But it is not a rehash. It's new, it's original and authentic from minute one.
@hydroshock18533 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, it's much better than When the Wild Wind Blows. I appreciate the latter song for its emotional appeal, and it felt appropriate for a closer, but this track is much darker and heavier. For Maiden's style, I have yet to see that not be a good thing.

The words of Steve Harris are one of my driving forces in life. The last two years have put my mental health in a dark, vulnerable place. When I thought things couldn't get any worse, "Senjutsu" came in like a force of nature and provided me with a feeling of joy, hope and excitement that I hadn't experienced for a long time. All of a sudden I felt alive again. "Senjutsu" was the album that I didn't think I needed as much as I did. My problems aren't by any means over yet, but "Senjutsu" has undoubtedly helped me on the way. Without "Senjutsu", I'm not sure what my life would have turned in to. I have listened to a lot of incredible music over the last year, old as new. Still, no band has been able to move me as much as Iron Maiden. When I listen to their music it feels like I'm being transported to another dimension, a strange dimension that is hard to describe in words. Only Maiden have been able to do that with me. When Steve Harris expresses himself, it feels like I'm being enlighted by a higher force. The fact that he wrote 4 songs for "Senjutsu" is a gift beyond human comprehension. It cemented him as my main source of enlightment. Human race doesn't deserve Steve Harris and judging by world we live in, human race aren't ready for Steve Harris words of wisdom. Luckily, there are people out there who have embraced his words and, hopefully, grown and became happier persons because of it. I hope you who reads this is one of those people. Take care!

After a month of taking in this masterpiece, the time is right to put my 2 cents out there. As a snot nose 13 yr old entering HS back in 1985 I heard Iron Maiden for the first time blasting out of some senior’s car. I don’t remember the song, it doesn’t matter. The bass, the drums and vocals lured me in and has captivated me for 37 yrs. As I hit 50 the same month this album came out , the artistic genius that the band put out has cemented them as historic metal icons. This track in particular sends the listener on a introspective journey. It is through our own life experiences ( good/bad, happiness/misery, life/death, love/loss) that this song, this band reaches inside and touches us. Whatever their future plans are, we have 17 albums to enjoy. As someone else mentioned, I pity those who never know the name of Iron Maiden.

hellyeah! lot's of people these days complain that Maiden didn't write shorter/catchier stuff on the last few albums, but i love that feeling of those epic tracks - it's like floating or flying away, while you actually just sit there (or stand in front of the stage) and enjoy the music. Awesome.

I heard Wicker Man on the radio twenty years ago and from that moment on I was hooked on Maiden. I was in my freshman year of high school. Immediately seeking out their classic albums and listening to it all old and new ever since. I saw them live with my best friend two years ago on the legacy of the beast tour and now senjutsu has arrived and may very well be the best album since Brave New World. This song feels like the culmination of an emotional journey just listening to the album itself, twenty years as a fan, and their career. I don’t think these guys are done but if they are, what an amazing note to end on. I love maiden and I love maiden fans. We are a great community and I wish you all the best and hope you have not only survived but thrived somehow on this hell on earth. Up the irons!

Some people here don't understand, that a sign of a group such brilliant as Iron Maiden is, that they will never remain stuck with something. They evolve. So don't seek the 80's, this ist '21 (and further), and they still remain a class for their own - or, as I read otherwhere: this is not Heavy Metal, this is Iron Maiden!
