If I remember right I cut my Maiden teeth on Powerslave soon after it was released, was the heaviest music I've ever heard, soon after that I heard Killers and might've been even more blown away, soon after that I bought the rest of their stuff including Maiden Japan, but I've never warmed up to that first album like I have the others '80-85(including Live After Death). It seemed punkish or something, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it was the production, maybe it was D'anno's voice. Over time, I warmed up to the first album and jam out on it as much as the others! Loving the live versions I think helped me like it even more. I'm pretty much evenly divided on this track vs track🙂

I know this is probably blasphemous but I got into Maiden in the late 90s with the reissues they had and Sanctuary was the 2nd track on the debut and I just always assumed that was the track order. Mine works out to 7-1 for the Di Anno album with Hallowed be Thy Name scoring the lone win over Iron Maiden. That one is my favorite Bruce song and IMO Iron Maiden is a great song but it is not a better song than Hallowed.
