Rick, re-read my dude LOLOL! I forget you actually do read all that. Man, this one gave me fits. I just kept wanting to use that left foot. But that was a hard no in my mind. Had to do it as a single bass cover. I ran out of ideas for fills after 2 minutes - the fills aren't even remotely accurate with the recording. Think the world of ya bro!

This was the most unexpected drum cover that I've seen from you. never heard you mention Maiden never seen you do a cover of Maiden that I recall. Probably my absolute favorite band. the fact that you took on Nicko's part on this which is not a easy song to play at all and you did it so well is mind-boggling. Dude...

Eric my dude!!!! I gotta head over to check out your newest vid dude. Man, it ain't exact or anything but I am making my official apology for just now understanding the bad assery of this tune. This sum bitch was a beast to get under control. Now, to avoid having to do more with a single pedal, I'm thinking of starting a Gofundme for Nicko so he can buy a second bass drum LOLOL!!!!! Eric man, I can't thank you enough for the kind words. Hell bro, I thank you for just watching.

What is happening Stefano! Man, I'll be the first to say that I did not spend the proper time studying and examining Maiden in my younger days and I damn sure wonder why. When I did this particular track at the request of a buddy, it was more than an eye opener. I sat down and did my thing in terms of trying to just get a handle on it in a practice session so I could do a track and there was no way. This was the product of a few weeks of sitting down and taking on a little at a time. I honestly did set out with the intent of learning every fill but I watched Nicko do this enough live that I felt better when I saw even he didn't ever do his own fills 🤣🤣. I say all that to say that I so appreciate the kind words and believe me, I was massively grateful just to take a stab at this. I'm beyond grateful comments & views are still coming in. Have an awesome Saturday bud 🤘🤘🤘

Patric! Yeah dude - you can thank Donnie Rash for this one. I hadn't even contemplated Maiden. Donnie brought the song to my attention and if I'd heard it, I don't remember. But in the first minute, it was too interesting to pass up. Having said that (LOL!!!), this was not a song I could sit down and just play. This took 2-3 nights of practice because I just flat out don't play this way. That bouncing ride sync'd with the kick and the gallop type feel, I just about took the left pedal off because I KEPT wanting to use it. My friend, thank YOU for being kind enough to watch!

The song just has so many tasty fills but it's hard to explain. They must be Nicko and Nicko only. Super unique sound to all of them. I just had to accept I don't really play that way so it became a situation where I needed to straddle the fence and stay true to the guts of it but do so in a way that didn't make it sound forced. Throughout the comment section, I've said that (for reasons I don't really get LOL!), the Maiden train didn't pick me up. Rush too. I wasn't overly into either band. In doing this song back in 2021 or thereabouts, it was an eye opener on the bad assery of Nicko McBrain. I really mean it. Trying to get this tune in a format where I felt it was presented with respect to the original and to Nicko took 2-3 weeks from what I remember. Work wasn't as bad then and I could practice every 2-3 days for 30 minutes or so at night. I have no idea how many takes it took to get this 😂😂 but it would have been a few. Bud, that's an amazing compliment under ANY circumstance but coming from someone like you - a drummer I 100% respect and enjoy - I can't ever do a good enough job of telling you what your kindness means dude. This one........whew LOL!!! I need to get another Maiden tune. I drug my feet on that all year. Trying to do this was a long process. It really was. It just has a flow to it that I never really locked into but at the same time, I found an approach that seemed to fit OK at least. I cannot overstate how much I enjoy Nicko's work on this. I'm not a drummer too familiar with his style but DAMN man - that guy is incredibly unique and amazingly good

It's incredibly unique. And now I've backed up to Burr and good LAWD.......they have employed some pure monsters on the kit. And I really appreciate the kind words on the footwork. I wanted to incorporate that left foot something awful (LOL) but I couldn't do it. I at least knew that wouldn't have been right given that Nicko is a single pedal monster. Appreciate ya my friend!

Trey this is so wicked, this is in my top 2 drum intros of all time along with Over the Mountain and you blazed through it like you do everything! Piece of Mind was my first concert ever and Nicko's performance made me want to start playing drums although I think Clive Burr was a tighter player. I'm super happy you uploaded some Maiden brother, nobody kills covers better than you do and your drum sound and mix make it sound better, more drumccentric, than the original which is always an improvement for me lol. You couldn't have picked a better tune for a first Maiden upload, deadly! Much respect and lots of love to you my friend, keep Rokken like Dokken!

Rokken like Dokken LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude, I have to own that I don't know much about Maiden. In prepping this, I saw a good bit of debate on the Clive Burr / Nicko side of things. So after doing this and realizing what a pure bitch it was, I gotta go run down Clive's work and examine that. I swear, that's one of the most fun things about being on here dude. We get to learn over and over. And to me, this was fascinating. This track is a pure monster (not this cover - not saying that at all. Talking strictly about Nicko's cut)

@@TreyBDrums As far as Iron Maiden, I think you covered the best song from a drummer's perspective. I am a guitarist, but I think all guitar players wish they were drummers too. I love a drummer that is active, that is why I love Iron Maiden and Rush. Your playing amazed me with how your kit was setup. Do not see many players that have their kit so flat all the way around. Also, how long did it take you to master the cymbal hit, then grab it with your hand to stop it from oscillating? That was really impressive.
