I've been talking about doing Marvel movie reactions basically since the start of this channel and today I finally start with Iron Man. I really like to do series and get into a groove with reactions and the MCU is one of the biggest series ever.

Iron Man is a 2008 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures, it is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay by the writing teams of Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, and Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man alongside Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, Shaun Toub, and Gwyneth Paltrow. In the film, following his escape from captivity by a terrorist group, world famous industrialist and master engineer Tony Stark builds a mechanized suit of armor and becomes the superhero Iron Man.
A film featuring the character was in development at Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and New Line Cinema at various times since 1990, before Marvel Studios reacquired the rights in 2005. Marvel put the project in production as its first self-financed film, with Paramount Pictures distributing. Favreau signed on as director in April 2006, and faced opposition from Marvel when trying to cast Downey in the title role; the actor was signed in September. Filming took place from March to June 2007, primarily in California to differentiate the film from numerous other superhero stories that are set in New York City-esque environments. During filming, the actors were free to create their own dialogue because pre-production was focused on the story and action. Rubber and metal versions of the armor, created by Stan Winston's company, were mixed with computer-generated imagery to create the title character.
Iron Man premiered in Sydney on April 14, 2008, and was released in the United States on May 2, as the first film in Phase One of the MCU. It grossed over $585 million, becoming the eighth-highest grossing film of 2008. The film received praise from critics, especially for Downey's performance, as well as Favreau's direction, visual effects, action scenes, and writing. It was selected by the American Film Institute as one of the ten best films of 2008 and received two nominations at the 81st Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects. Two sequels have been released: Iron Man 2 (2010) and Iron Man 3 (2013).

I found it particularly funny you felt Jeff Bridges was so intimidating and thus perfect for this role. One of his most famous parts is as "The Dude" in the Lebowski where he is famously chill. He is a great actor though, lots of range.

Yeah I recognized him as the dude which is why this one caught me off guard. Also true grit is one of my favorite movies, he’s such a great actor.

I can't wait for you to see avengers, Iron man 2, and iron man 3. Those 3 movies made Iron man my favorite MCU character by a long shot.

iron man 3 better than the first, Iron man 2 is pretty good but it has awesome moments, and the avengers perfectly showcases the best parts of tony's character

"Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing." Fun Fact: Paul Bettany has never seen the film and is unfamiliar with the plot. He said JARVIS (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System) was the easiest job ever and it was almost like a robbery, since he only worked for two hours, got paid a lot of money, and then went on vacation with his wife Jennifer Connelly. Sober King Fact: In an interview with Britain's Empire Magazine, Robert Downey Jr. thanked Burger King for helping him get straight edged in 2003, with a car full of drugs. He had a burger that was so disgusting, it made him rethink his life, and dump the drugs in the ocean. He repeats this, with his impromptu sit-down session with the press, upon his return from captivity. Burger King also promoted the film with toys based on this movie, as well as the sequel. On a personal note, I loved Burger King's Whopper and regret their recent decline. Unscripted Masterpiece Fact: The script was not completely finished when filming began, since the filmmakers were more focused on the story and the action, so the dialogue was mostly ad-libbed throughout filming. Director Jon Favreau acknowledged this made the film feel more natural. Some scenes were shot with two cameras, to capture lines improvised on the spot. Robert Downey Jr. would ask for many takes of one scene, since he wanted to try something new. Gwyneth Paltrow, on the other hand, had a difficult time trying to match Downey with a suitable line, as she never knew what he would say.
