What a trip! Wow, that was some hike, and I enjoyed all of it, even sliding in the skree near the top! I just had to be very, careful and calculate every step….. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and I truly believe we had someone looking over us this whole trip. It could not have been any better! Thank you for believing that I could do that one…….I will keep these memories with me forever.

Hi Nick. Just curious, do you not have a zoom on your camera anymore. Would have liked to seen some close ups of the moose. Can remember previous videos of you hiking to the summit of some mountain and being able to zoom in on your car in the parking lot at the trailhead miles away. Great video. Did your Mom’s arm heal up ok?

That was my Nikon camera, but I have switched to a gopro. The gopro has better stability and isnt all bouncy like the Nikon, but lacks a decent zoom. And also the batteries for my Nikon only last about 1 minute before dying now. So no point in hauling it with me on hikes.

WOW that view!! That might be the best view of the pass and the Never Summer mountains. Do you know if there is a different route besides going through Trap Park? I might go up Diamond Peaks tomorrow, just not sure of the route since I am not into walking on the road for part of the loop.

It looks like you could bushwack up from Cameron Pass parking and come in on that ridge to the north where the arch is. But the first part through the trees may be pretty brutal. Or you could come in from the Lulu/Thunder side but there is some loose nastiness on that route. And lastly, there is a faint trail coming up to the saddle from the west side, but Im not sure where that one starts out below. Maybe from the trail to Thunder Pass.. not really sure.

The easiest way to do Diamond Peaks is from Cameron Pass parking area. There is a decent trail that goes up to the saddle. But it goes STRAIGHT UP! Super steep, but a pretty short hike.

@@nicksangetta8874 Cool, yeah I am scoping out some maps. Bushwacking can get old fast, so your way might be the best route. Thanks!

I went to look up 'iron mountain, co' on the CO map, you would not believe how many 'iron mountains' there are in Colorado, LOL!

I got to work all weekend. I was thinking about going over to the west side next week and camping a night. I want to do Pettingel or something like that. Im kinda hiked out on this east side of RMNP. Feel like I have been in there a lot lately.

Did you see any elk on this hike?
@nicksangetta8874
@nicksangetta8874 2 жыл бұрын
No elk. Just lots of moose and deer. I did see an Elk come up and over Thunder Pass when I did it a few years ago. But in general I dont see them that far north as much. The elk are all over Estes right now. Its almost impossible to drive through and not see one.

The gopro has such a wide field of view that unless you are 2 feet away from an object it looks far away. Its awesome for capturing mountains but terrible for wild life.
