As we all know Cooking in an Iron Kadai or a Pan provides several benefits, it increases Iron content in the food, its tough and durable, its acts as a nonstick when well seasoned, it evenly cooks food, its chemical free, easy to clean and so on…..
Not only that it lasts for generations once its Seasoned and Maintained effectively.
Many use different ways to season it however today I am gonna share one of the simplest, easiest and most effective way in just 3 steps
Also will be sharing few tips on how to clean and maintain it that will stay rust free and will help the iron kadai / pan to last for generations
So do follow this simple step and enjoy cooking in iron vessel that’s extremely loaded with several health benefits

Your explanation is simple and to the point and infact felt like a therapy. Got my first iron kadai after learning its health benefits. I was worried about black resdiue. So I followed your steps and now my kadai is shining and also nonsticky :D. You earned a subscriber. Keep up the good work.

Thanks u i dint know this, I bought one n I washed n started using without this method n my onions became all black n so I finally discard n gave it an exchange n bought a non stick kadai which is unhealthy now I m regretting 🙉 but ur steps n tricks r awsomy well explained

Have bought an iron pan from local shop.. Same staining problem... Will surely do the the washing steps for 3 more days to get that Sparkling iron pan

Your video really helpful. It seemed easy in your video to clean the black grease but it took me some time with 9-10 washes (It was very tiring) . I don't have an basting brush so I used an fork with onion at the end to coat the oil. It's my first day of seasoning will have to do for another few days.

Even me also. I don't remember how many times I washed. After 5 times if washing I changed to steel wool. Then the grease started to come out more and more,😟

Hello Nisha, on a day-to-day basis, what should the iron vessels be cleaned with? For ex: for clay pots, you have suggested - besan/rice flour with salt. How do we clean iron tawas/ kadai?

I use mild dish wash liquid with scorth bite scrub for cleaning iron pots and pan.

Hi...very nicely explained..i have 2 queries.. First one is that once we cook the onions and wash it and dry it , can we proceed with cooking without applying oil as we are directly cooking or we need to wait for 24 hrs. 2. After cooking, do we need to shift the food immediately into another container or we can keep the food in iron kadhai and reheat it as well

Hi Reshma, you may directly start cooking after discarding onions no need to wait for 24 hours. Secondly, yes you need to transfer food to another container immediately after cooking. Hope this helps. Stay connected 😊

Hi,i bought the similar iron kadai,but i use the stainless steel scrubber to scrub the dirt,some say i shouldn't use that,use the normal sponge.i am not sure if i have scrubbed too hard,because i see there are some spots here and there.Can i still use it?

Hi Parminder, I guess you are asking about iron kadai. It's very simple just pour from hot water, leave it for sometime and discard the water. Then as usual wash it with scruber, dry and oil it as shown in the video. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the video. Once we start regularly using the kadai, is it required to oil on the backside. 2. Is the kadai to be cleaned with soap on the next use after oiling it ?

Hi Rajani, yes you need to oil allover the kadai to avoid rusting and good maintaince. For 2nd time use just rinse kadai with water and start using it. Hope this helps. Stay connected 😊

Yes Rekha after every cooking, you need to wash, dry and oil the kadai for good maintaince and long shelf life.

Wow! This is so elaborate. Whatever I wanted to know about iron kadai, you explained it at its core. However, I need to know how would I buy the real iron kadai as there are several types of iron kadai on Amazon like silver color and others. And most importantly what's the price of this kadai? Please mention the size as well. Thank you!

Hi Jitendra, thank you for your feedback. Mine was bought from a utensil cookware shop. The iron kadai when you lift should be heavy bottemed and thicker. My kadai weighs 2 kg with 10inch/26cm diameter price between 500 to 600 INR. Hope this helps. Stay connected 😊

Thank you very much for the video...very informative and you have explained it very well. I have query the onion seasoning have to do every time or just once....and I have heard that cooking sour food is not advisable in Irony Kadai. Is it true coz I use tomatoes in every dish. Pls advise.

Very nice to hear that. Thanks Kunjal, I use my kadai to make all types of sabjis, make chutneys, sukka masala gravy, stir fry and even use for frying food. These recipes includes tomatoes, tamarind, lemon or curd. Just ensure kadai is well seasoned & after cooking immediately transfer it to another pot. Hope this helps. Stay healthy stay connected😊

First time when you saute onion or any other veggies we discard it just to avoid consuming any black residue left in kadai and might get mixed with veggies. Hope this helps. Stay connected😊

Hi Shruti, don't worry if you have seasoned your kadai correctly, continue cooking regularly & you will see difference in kadai surface and it will turn non sticky.

In a well seasoned kadai you may cook tomato and tamarind based recipe. However ensure you transfer it to another container immediately after cooking. Hope this helps stay connected

I just have one doubt, once seasoned and started using, everytime after dish washed n dryed, should I apply oil, then wash with water and then start cooking? Or can I directly start cooking after the pan is dried?

Mam i started using my new iron kadai without following these steps.. food turns brown n if lid is closed to the hot curry, edges turns rustic brown colour and smells food metallic... can i follow these steps now???
