Really informative video, 125 grams has been what I have played for a few years and is probably the optimum weight for my golf swing although I have also tested a couple of 117-120 gram shafts which have felt really good too.

great video for sure. i was in this exact scenario that the fitter put me in a bad shaft and then went to another fitter later saying i should have been put in a heavier shaft and the numbers showed it.

Feel is such an important aspect of golf and it’s so important to know those distances and club separation…..really god point about 18th hole on a hot day, which would you rather game. Loads of great points to consider on here (as always👏🏻). Keep them coming⛳️🏌🏻

Yeah those Mizunos are sometimes 2 degrees toe down so you will tend to go right if your used to a standard lie Great Vid I use KBS Tour V 110 and I find them great That said Love the S300 120 tour shaft You are right its all about feeling and timing There is no wrong answer if it works

Yeah can do Duc, tbh in that situation the flex is probably irrelevant, heavier in steel pretty much always plays stiffer, so the reg would play more like the stiff and the stiff more like the reg 😂😂

My irons came with project x rifles 5.5 i hit some really nice shots with them but feels like i have to go at it quite abit to get the shot i want and feels abit heavy and stout for us im tempted to try the modus 105 as i think there about 10g lighter

Yes definitely would be a good shout to try the modus. Lighter and just all round softer, smoother and feel less work 👌

The 5.5 are meant to between stiff and reg like i say i do feel like i have to put a a bit of force in with these to get the flight i want but i hit my 8 iron about 150 was thinking prob best to go for modus 105 in stiff but theres a cheap used set of the shafts in regular was wondering if i could get away with reg or better to save up and go for stiff just confused as the 5.5 meant to be between yet feels quite stout

@@stevethepigeon7159 it feels stout because of the profile more than the flex. Project X are just stout shafts by design regardless of flex. Modus are quite a bit smoother. If you can get a cheap set of 105 reg id go with that. Won't be much in it between S and Reg and flight will be the same

Great video. Looking to get modus shaft in a set of 223’s. Been fitted in modus 120s (7 iron = 121.7 ball speed, spin 5700, 91.4 club speed, 173 carry, 184 total) Before I buy, do you think I should be in stiff or extra stiff with those numbers?

Thanks Stu. In all honesty you could be in either. Number 1 I'd go based on feel and your preference between them. Number 2 consistency. 3 if there's nothing between them then if you are an aggressive quick tempo player then go X if you are smooth then S will be fine. But for me number 1 is always feel and confidence.

@@epgolfstudios thanks for the advice. I’m coming down from DG x100’s I’ve had for 10 years - so all feels abit alien when trying them. The club in the bag which is really feels good is my tsi3 Tensei white 65 stiff. Which one you think might align with that?

@@Stu1987 hmm it's hard to translate directly from graphite wood shafts into steel iron shafts but the AV raw shafts play very stiff because of the stiff handle they have so if you like the feel of that I would maybe edge towards the X-Stiff.

I have used a 98-gram shaft fairly stiff not overly so for 22 years Callaway x14 constant weight shaft. Been checking out the new Elevate 95mph(90gram) in stiff, more like a regular and the feel is so different. I'll have to hit more to find out if I like it. It's in the Ping i230. I think I do like it, but it feels unstable yet is more accurate than the 98-gram stiffer shaft. Crazy right? I want the accuracy, so I'd better learn to like the softer lighter shaft.

Yes at the end of the day accuracy is key. Feel can probably be acquired. If something works well I'm sure you will learn to like it. Although I'm not a massive fan of the elevate, low balance point I have found so they feel heavy for a light weight shaft. I have also consistently seen a drop in launch and spin Vs other shafts. Which is the opposite of what it's supposed to do 😂

You'd have to rest but generally speaking yes id say a lighter shaft would be easier to square up

Possibly, again I'm not one for theorising online tbh as everything will be different for every golfer so the only way to really tell is to get fit and try different stuff 👍

I’ve recently gained a set of blueprint s irons , not quite sure the shaft is right for me as I’ve been using dg 120 and like that . But in these irons they have nippon modus 105 , they feel a bit light and not sure the lie is correct .. Could I come in for a fitting using the blueprint head in a heavier shaft ? Before I go down the rd of changing shafts ?

Hello, I recently fitted for Mizuno 243 with Nippon Neo 950 stiff. However, after I ordered them and playing with them, they feel on heavy side. I tried my friend’s Mizuno 919 with Modus 105 Regular, for some reason it feel lighter and I hit the ball higher. Now I saw someone selling Mizuno 223 with Modus 105 Regular and so tempted to buy them. What do you recommend? Thank you in advance.

I have a question, you appeared to hit the 105 best, it also had a -1 deg dynamic lie angle. If you got that data in a fitting would you suggest adjusting the lie angle 1 degree up, or would you just leave it?

It would depend on the miss of the player mate, for me personally I like my toe being a little down if anything as my worse miss has always been left so I would leave it. If the player consistently missed right then we'd definitely look to go upright by 1 or 2 degrees

I have a question regarding backspin. With my mizuno pro 223 and PX 6.5 shaft i have around 5800 rpm backspin and vertical launch around 16 degree. I tested modus 120x and spin went up to around 6400 rpm, but the launch stayed the same. I like the feel of the Modus much better than my PX 6.5, and i also have better dispersion. Should the higher spin (and the loss in distance) concern me or can i make the switch to modus 120x? I have pretty similar numbers as you across the board. Swing speed at 94 mph and ball speed 125 mph.

Hey Alex, hmm that seems like a little bit too much of a spin difference to me mate being honest, I would be surprised if it was that different (on good hits) especially as launch the same. But being honest I would always play the shaft you felt more comfortable with and felt you could time and strike more consistently. But talking strictly numbers because you launch it on the lower side I would probably edge towards the slightly more spin to get that ball flight climbing a little more and dropping at a nice steep decent angle. Although miss would also come into my thinking. If you tend to miss left a lot then definitely go with the higher spin option, but if you rarely miss left and balloon the ball up high right quite often then I could air on the side of slightly less spin.

@@epgolfstudios Thank you for a great answer. My misshits is snaphooks with my PX 6.5, while with the slightly ligther modus 120x it immediatly went away (atleast on trackman). Distance control also seemed to improve. I never tried the modus 120 TX, which is more like my PX 6.5. Do you think i should stay away from the TX shaft due to the fact i'm missing shots left and spinning too little? I also feel 125g might be a tiny bit too heavy for me, even though im a agressive swinger.

@@Alex-vj3ll yes I do mate! You sound similar to me and I miss left when I go heavy and stiff and miss right when I go light and soft (as a general pattern) so find the sweet spot for you and completely forget about the theory and what you think you should be playing. Just play what works 🤙

Lightest shaft you can control…weren’t they referencing driver shafts when they said that? I play 105 X and I’m considering a 115 or 120 for no other reason than they feel really nice to me and I feel the head too much with the 105. Would never go 130g endless it was like a DG or something like that.

It was irons that I saw them talking about mate but I think it's quite a good general rule throughout to be honest. Yeah definitely if you want to feel the weight a little more evenly distributed it's certainly worth trying the 115/120 as you say. 👌

@@epgolfstudios quick question while you are here, Accra TZ6 CB 45” playing length in Ping G410…if I put that into a callaway head is the callaway so much lighter that the swingweight would be off or are they close in headweight after the OEM adapters are added? Callaway is 9g and ping 5g?

For a lot I do like the concept for sure mate. But strong fast players are the ones that will need that weight all the way through the bag for control (probably!) Don't like to put anyone in a box and assume, can get surprise results sometimes when you test some bits 👀👀

You can see from the ball speed, launch and spin there is basically no difference so they all flew very close to the same height. The difference would be so small it's not even worth worrying about.
