Iron warriors view chaos as just another weapon. Alpha legion is really ambigious who or what they actually worship. The Night lords are true renegades as most of them despise chaos and only honor greed. The only thing that unites these guys is the memory of their primarch.

The Iron Warriors are my favorites because they are the only Chaos Army to wage eternal war like it should be. instead of Warbands they should regroup and once again march in line with greatest disciplin without a desire for power of the gods. they shall do it with, or without Perturabo, but the Iron shall not be broken

I am only into Ahrimans Story, But like Perturabo, Magnus just does not seem to give a shit about all that mess. The Sons would be the most potent opponent by far, if banded together and again ruling Prospero, in terms of knowledge, farsight and overall progress and care Wouldn't it be for their desperate Situation maybe the sorcerers would again try to build a world dedicated to wisdom. The Iron Warriors on the other hand are fine mathematicians, architects and engineers, but more practical, like another side of a coin, in my opinion

Wellll...... According to the Warhammer wiki the Rubric kinda had the side affect of Completely Shattering Magnus's Psyche. Apparently he has split into Multiple Personalities. The Original Magnus would have cared and fixed it but......Also the main reason he did not do that much in Prospero was he was doing a mix of having a Mental Communication with Tzeentch at first telling him to F*** off and Believing that he deserved everything that was coming his way.

I just completed Ahriman: Exile and Sorcerer as well and with that little part of him messing around in Ahrimans mind, he seemed to be doing just fine But isn't he a demon prince anyway now? I mean that their achievements and sacrifices were never given the recognition and respect they deserved. They would wage wars of attrition, trenches and siege warfare for long periods of time only to have another, more beloved Legion come as "reinforcements" right at the end and get all the glory for the victory, with barely a mention of how much effort the Iron Warriors put in there for that victory to happen. And on top of that, Perturabo was a born civil engineer, he wanted to create great and beautiful cities, but the Emperor said "no, you'll be a military engineer" and threw him and his sons into siege warfare. They ended up so morally broken.

Perturabo long lamented that no one every appreciated his hobbies, that no one showed him love, and that he was always "thrown" into the worst wars; yet he never showed anyone his other hobbies, he rejected all attempts to form bonds with him, and he threw himself into constant war. When Fulgrim burst into his little hobby room, he outright asked why he had never shown anyone his work and why he never built the things he wanted to; Perturabo used the wars he threw himself into as an excuse and said his projects would never turn out right so he never even tried. Perturabo was a petulant manchild who claimed to want affection, praise, and peace but truly craved war and destruction while rejecting all attempts to give him what he claimed to want. For all the Iron Warriors are my favorite traitor legion, Perurabo was his own worst enemy and every fault he saw in others was just a projection of his own failings. If he had but showed his brothers his creations, he would have recieved the praise he wanted. If he took the chance and built the wonders he wanted, they would have been things to marvel at. If he had simply asked for a break or outright denied requests to go to another war as his brethren frequently did, he would have known peace. If he hadn't murdered his own family after rejecting their numerous attempts to show him love and respect, he wouldn't have fallen for Horus silken dagger. The Emperor was extraordinarily lenient with his children, all Perturabo had to do was ask and he could have spent decades building all the lovely little things he never actually did even when he had the time. Every single problem that caused his fall was forged by his own hand.

To ask your question about the best strategists: Iron warriors and Alpha fight a whole different kind of war, The IW are meant to brake walls while the AL are meant to infiltrate them. IW= Siege Works and Optimal Firepower employment while AL= Espionage , Sabotage and Guerilla warfare. U cant compare them cause they are different kind of warriors. U just pick ur prefered method. Some wars cant be won by one but the other will make short work of it.

@@davidleigh64 Perturabo then traveled to Deluge, where he confronted the vicious and corrupted Daemon Primarch Angron. Perturabo and Angron engaged in a brutal battle, with the Daemon having the clear edge in power and speed. However despite taking many wounds Perturabo endured and goaded Angron, declaring that he was born a slave and now was a slave to Darkness for all eternity. By using the Iron Warriors, Iron Circle, and Volk to out-maneuver and bombard the World Eaters, Angron was bested. This is just one example in the books that shows that Perturabo seen what being a demon Prince meant . Thus he would not have become a demon Prince but possibly a renegade with his legion

Perturabo became a daemon prince because he was dying, fulgrim using him to ascend caused perturabo to start dying after he stole part of his essence. He has so much bitterness in his heart that he most likely accepted ascension just to get what he saw as retribution and recognition from his father. He is also of chaos undivided, becoming nothing like angron, but closer, in all likely hood to what horus would have been

The Iron Warriors are simply amazing.Once they set up there siege line they become unbeatable.Let's not forget as well that they are actively recruiting and creating new chaos space marines making them impossible to wipe out.Perturabo was also one of the most interesting primarch. @TheM6A2 Uriel Ventris; but everytime Uriel beats him he gets back up. Then again, Uriel has taken on quite a lot; he did defeat the Nightbringer, and a Tyranid Splinter fleet queen, and a few hundred Chaos Marines and the weird daemon thing in Honsou's fortress, and then he defeated a bunch of cultists and unfleshed, and then a Tau expeditionary force, and then the Chapter's Due he went ape-shit on the Chaos lot. He's a fairly tough ol' nut. Point is, Honsou just keeps getting back up. :P

Clearly the coolest Space Marine Chapter, both prior and post Horus Heresy. The addition of vehicle allowances for long-range artillery simply makes them better. Basilisks for the absolute win! Honsou, equally, just rocks. Kick him down, the persistent mother-fucker just gets back up again. I'd like to see him go toe-to-toe with high-ranking Space Marine Loyalist Officers. He'd suit a one-on-one dual with Grimnar. I doubt he'd win, but it'd be one hell of a table-top fight.

As for the Black Legion , they surely posses vast resources. They have lots of war engines , titans , daemon princes , veterans etc etc etc. Abbadon is also a genius , u cant expect less from the champion of chaos. BUT his pride and arrogance has costed him more than he could care to admit. 13 failed black crusades are no joke. Also the Black Legion is flesh and bone traitors so they have a great deal of infighting that hinders their focus.

@TheM6A2 You've not read The Killing Ground; have you? :P That's the book after Dead Sky Black Sun and it proceeds Courage and Honour. In The Killing Ground, the unfleshed travel with Uriel and Pasanius to a planet (I forget the name) and at the end, they become possessed. The Grey Knights, Uriel and Pasanius all fight and kill them. Just before he is given final rights be Uriel, the Lord of the Unfleshed (who is just a child) turns back into his child consciousness. And then Uriel kills him.

the Iron Warriors and Night Lords are the only two traitor legions who (although they do occasionally do ally themselves with black legion and the others) their only REAL allegience is to their OWN legion and in the IWs case their PRIMARCH. if u read the books u see that both of thsoe legions often betray their allegiance to black legion or whoever because they can't be assed to take orders from them any more. they don;t see chaos as their god or master liek the others, just an ally

@Referee001uk There were 2 Legions whose Primarch either was never recovered, or all records of which were purged. No one knows the truth as to why those Primarchs and their Legions are missing. Officially, Gamesworkshop did it to give players more freedom in creating their Space Marine armies, ie claim descent from one of those missing legions.

actually the IW don't either, aside from Perturabo becomnig a daemon prince there is very little mutatino in their legion, they are just walknig suits of armour, merciless and daemonic but there is no physical changes to them, heck even the alpha legino have mutated me than them. or parts of them have, some parts of the alpha legion have turned evil and soem have remained loyal (supposedly)
