sad that one of the core founder of VD dev passed away... and after his passing, VD dev sort of went quiet.. They were excellent at making technically great looking games on handheld. For example : The founder programmed the GBA game Asterix & Obelix XXL, which combines 2d sprites that runs around in 3D 'open world' , V Rally 3 GBA, Driver 3 GBA, Stuntdriver GBA, C.O.P The Recruit on DS which is fully realized 3D open world ala GTA on a DS and RISE: Race the future for the Switch, a really great looking Ridge Racer-like racing game. Keep in mind that they are small indie developer that manage to churn out really ambitious game without having big team and budget like other developers. In a way I've always hope Nintendo can hire them and help them make games on their platform, because they proved many times that they are able to squeeze every little bit of the console and make games that look more impressive than it should on a weak console.

I was really happy to see this pop up but I wonder if they're going to be able to build completely new games going forward without Velez' support. I certainly hope they will.

They didnt go quiet. Not long ago they released a racing game on Switch.

@@gundamzerostrike Wouldn't necessarily call it new, it came out five years ago. Velez also worked on that game until his passing.

@@Maryokutaizero They continued the project and the game released after his passing and kept updating it years later. And 5 years algo is very very recent. Remember: they are a small indie company. They don't release games every year. Look at Shin'en. How many games they've released after 2020 The Touryst? Only one, The Punchuin, which is a simple 2D puzzle game.

Was that the guy that made the 3D engine for V-Rally 3 for the GBA?

I unfortunately can't recall which one, but the port was done by one of the two remaining team members.

I'm having so much fun with it on the Switch. I never pulled the trigger for the 3DS version, even tho I played the demo like three times lol

I hope this time it gets a physical release at some point. Perhaps Limited Run Games will do one. I know people have issues with them but if not for the Switch re-release of this game, it would've been lost to time.

Talkibng about the graphics, they couldn't fix the issue with the faces, those models are very cockeyed and is very uncomfortable to see...

poor man's gears of war. it just doesn't look good imo. if you want a realistic looking action packed game better to get sniper elite 4.
