Why did you swim extra yards? What was the issue? How to correct for this?

Most people in the whole race swam extra yards. I think it was a combination of the strong winds possibly pulling the buoys around and winds pushing people off course with the current. Even the strongest swimmers and professionals swam extra so I'm not sure there was a way to correct it!
