Try clamping the wood pieces together with out gluing. Then carve while clamped. Paint or stain individual slats. Then glue together. Reduces taping time and messy paint/stain bleed

As always, great job Max. Wavy flags are one of the hardest to do. You make it look easy. The edges puts the flag a step higher than others I've seen. Great touch. Your shading with the torch added a great touch as well. Something that works for me to keep mistakes and paint bleed to a minimum: When you have the first stripes taped (in this you taped the white first), after you stained the red stripes and it dries, you can spray on one or two light coats of seal. Once that dries, change up the taping (take off the tape on the white stripes, put tape on red strips) then stain the white stripes. If any stain bleeds, it shouldn't stain over the red before you can wipe it off (seal coat should stop the stain). This method works even better for staining stars. Blue stain for union, one or two coats of seal, then carve out the stars. Start staining stars white. Any white that gets on the blue cleans up quick and easy with a wipe of a rag.

Nice job ! People don't realize just how much time and work goes into something like this, I've been a carpenter and wood worker since 1971, sale price for this should be in the at least $75-$120 dollar range, good craftsmanship there young man. 👍

I have seen flags like these, not as nice go for over $200 and they sold out of them at every show.
@coppulor65007 ай бұрын
At a minimum. This takes a long time. 1 per day? $30 in wood, glue, stain, sealer, saw blade wear and tear, electricity, tape etc. so unless you're cool with $10/hr. At least $200. Plus, it takes time to get this good

Very nice work, i will try it on my own next vecation. 👍 You should panit/stain the back sides on the edges too, that would make a perfekt look. For the glueing proces use baking paper as table cover. The most wood glues dont stick to it and you can often reuse the paper, because the glue will fall of, if it is totaly dry. Just do a dry run befor using a new gluetye for the first time. Keep on the good work!

I've done pretty good selling flags over the past few years. I did a thin edge one like this a few years ago. I always considered it my flag cause it took 3 years to sell. I had it listed for 100 more than my normal flags. A few friends told me it was cool but not necessarily worth the extra money. Now that it's gone I miss it cause I really liked it.
