Ninja Blade Ninja Souls 1-3: Takes place in the far future with techno ninjas. Fans debate whether it is the same universe as Ninja Blade Iron Will (Blood Borne): Samurai soulsborne with guns to parry, still has Lovecraft elements, takes place in a 1920 Tokyo aesthetic instead of 1890's London looking location Vortigern (Sekiro): Mythic northern Europe. The Roman empire has fallen and there's a warring states period across Germania and Britania, any creature in Sekiro that's a Yokai is replaced with a Fae approximation. Sword Saint Ishin is replaced by Ghillie Dhu, Saint of the Forests Age of Storms (Elden Ring): Instead of George RR Martin, Fromsoft has contacted Kaoru Kurimoto to help with story writing. I had DMC vibes from that moonlight greatsword cutscene, but in a very awkward way. You know how every time Dante in DMC acquires a new weapon, there's a cutscene where he demonstrates what it can do in a very stylish way? Well, he generally does that in two types of cutscenes. The first type is when he slays a bunch of enemies that come out of nowhere displaying what the weapon can actually do, while being Dante (careless, cool and hellishly stylish). The second type is when he does some wacky cool moves that represent the FEEL and MOOD of the weapon (I'm looking at you, Dr. Faust, Nevan, and Gilgamesh), rather than actual moves. Well, this was neither. I swear to god, if the moonlight greatsword cutscene had enemies in it, it would be actually pretty good! And without them it just feels wacky and awkward... He stylishly cuts a bunch of... Roots? Don't get me wrong, Dante in DMC 4 often does the same thing with the big black obelisks, but when he does it, he doesn't even pretend to be serious, he does all kinds of "WOHOO"s and wears a grin during all of it, so you can tell he's just having a BLAST. This cutscene is just trying to be too serious while in actuality being way too wacky for itself, which makes it awkward.
@armedweiss55312 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The moonlight greatsword cutscene has that same energy as whenever Dante gets a new weapon in Devil May Cry. But with Ninja Blade's general tone, plus the fact that he shows off the sword's power by....cutting some tree roots, it just feels super off this game.

We're probably talking in roughly the range of 50,000 games at the most. And honestly, how many action games have you played in your life? maybe a few hundred at most if you're really big on it? Because for me looking at dark souls, zeldas, marios, metroids, DMCs, skyrim, spongebob, nier, and tons of other stuff I cant think of off the top of my head maybe 3 of 160 for me personally? so roughly 2%? I consider Ninja Blade a proto-Asura's Wrath. Sure, the QTEs were excessive in a time when QTEs were reviled but they do seem intended as a large and equal part of the gameplay and the game does warn you that a QTE sequence is coming up with that eye focus scene. Plus IIRC the button prompts were usually fairly logical. I think it's kinda the opposite of RE4's QTEs which were designed to keep the horror tension up during cutscenes since you could be prompted to hit a button combo at any time (and the buttons were randomized to make it meaner).

The whole time watching this I was thinking "he's really stepping up his game from the old DS1 blooper reel days." It's been fun to watch your growth. You fill the "From/soulslike variety" niche perfectly. Keep it up.

Still wish this was backwards compatible on my Xbox Series X. I know this game has its fans and equally haters. But it is a good alternative to KoeiTecmo Ninja Gaiden.

It's funny, having watched your King's Field: The Ancient City video, the Moonlight Greatsword from Ninja Blade is the exact one from that King's Field. So, lore theory: this game takes place in the same universe as King's Field, albeit super far in the future. That's why the game is so whacky and weird and a little jank, because it's operating on the laws of King's Field.

Moonlight greatsword is also in Bloodborne and lots of other fromsoft games.

I think its a valid possibility. Maybe someone wanted to continue kings field but miyazaki saw that ninja blade was a failure but didnt want to hurt his friends feelings so he released them both. The parasites that take over vehicles seem similar to the parasites in another from game.

@@Jaiden_Anime_Shuns Miyazaki was not in charge at this point. He was pretty new to Fromsoft at the time.

Bruh for real armored core was my shit growing up. I never realized that from is responsible for 2 of my favorite series.

Yeah I was coming down to type this too. Armored Core has had a diehard fanbase since PS1. And for real like, I love Souls and stuff, but come on. It's been 7 years since anything AC.

ACV and ACVD had some issues. I love a lot of what they did, but then there was a lot I felt was wrong with them. EDIT: Granted, at this point, I'd take something in the style of ACV. I'd prefer something along the lines of the PS2 ACs, but that style had some merits to it.

Yeah. Man even bringing the later titles like 4/4A and V and VD to PC would be amazing bc of their multiplayer.

Never forget that when you say, “thank god we’re in this timeline where demon souls was popular” some one is saying “thank god we’re in this timeline where ninja blade is popular”

Can we see what the Ninja Blade 2020 is like? I'd rather no Dark Souls than everything being on fire. It would suck, sure, but it's better than living in an IRL Lost Izalith.

12:23 this is probably the funniest shit i've ever seen. It legit took my complete surprise. Not only is it completely out of place, but its uncharacteristically uncanny.
