Hey Matt, Steve And Mike, the gravel pan turned out great! Looks factory - especially with the rolled tips. Very nice work! And the motorcycle plate lights turned out as well. Right. "6 Volt" should answer any questions from the Law...

Just an observation , but Matt looks like he's hitting his stride here . Comfortably comfortable . Why not ? An excellent series on how to make a dream come true . The gravel pan came out perfect , & I love the turned down ends , like your factory friend's car . Nice ! The lighting is fine ! The "heat" usually has high beams , & can see everything from pavement to rooftops & trees , beyond the car . They can see the plate , FINE . Roll with it , baby ! Pipes , then front end . Paint it enough to drive it . If it's where you want it , then put a good one on it . Drive it . Enjoy it ! 👍

Yuppers, another win! Rolled ends add to the look and smooth her out (great classic custom touch)! Winter's not over yet, can't wait to see what's next for the front end! That old license plate looks like it may have been repainted or had the contrasting color on the numbers sanded off and not put back on. Where I live, you can use plates from the date of your vintage car's model year. Does PA allow such plates to be touched up or repainted in their original color?
@kentmckean679510 сағат бұрын

@LarryHeagren14 сағат бұрын
The back of the car is now very nice. The bumper and accessories do not detract from the smooth flow of the rear. It looks good and is understated and clean. As far as driving a car longer in the season PA is notoriously cold and having lived in DE for twelve years, I understand your issues weather wise. It will be in the mid 80's today in my neighborhood and that is the chief reason why I moved to Texas. I got sick of shoveling snow! You are well established where you are, so I get why moving really isn't an option. It is too bad because Austin has quite a busy old car scene with lots of custom shops. Remember there is no state income tax in Texas which has caused many a company to relocate in the last 20 years. I have enjoyed your channel immensely. Thanks for sharing your projects with us the viewers.

You are at your best with fire and smoke, sparks and lectricity. I am not crazy about the tail light treatment, but it's not my car. I am glad that you went with the thinner license surround. It was looking kinda busy with the other ones. I am anxiously awaiting the windows. Since you began the chop on this Merc, there are suddenly 3 or 4 more 1939 Mercs getting chopped and the side windows are all done differently. Love your creativity. Nice work.

Oh yes! That's what it needed at the rear. Would it not look smoother still if you ditched the over riders? Decades ago I had a Morris 1000 and just taking the over riders off the front bumper cleaned the front end up great. Had any more thoughts about those running boards? Looking at Pete's '46 the rockers give just that little hint of shape which might be the way to go.
@IronTrapGarage16 сағат бұрын
I’ll either leave the running boards stock or remove them and make a rocker panel to cover the frame. Haven’t decided yet

Great progress on this ole girl!! Its been a fun watch to see what you've been doing, looking forward to the front end work. Have you ever considered puttinf skirts on the front fenders? Or is that not possible because of the tires turn radius?
@stevenkarnisky41111 сағат бұрын
As low as those tailights are, I would consider putting a third one in the rear window, like modern cars. If somebody rear-ends you all that work will be ruined! It is never stupid to opt for a safety feature. This Merc is becoming a real beauty!

Everything on the rear flows so well . Would you consider adding a 3rd brake light, I know it's a modern idea but it could save someone driving into the back of all your hard work. Regards from across pond .
