I tried Structural- wasn't what I was expecting (too easy) Post tension- too feminine Welding- I ain't steady enough (too many in the trade) Rebar- not too many in here because most cant handle it or dont last

I never missed a day of work unless I wanted to. If your on a bench it’s because there are better dependable workers or you work out of a slow region. A good ironworker is hardly ever out of work. 29 years later life is great with a fat retirement and annuity. Loved building America.

Iron workers make a hell of a lot more than $25 /hr which every penny is deserved. Where do they get these bogus statistics? All iron workers I know are easily pulling in $100k-$150k /year.

Depends on where they do it. Take Chicago for example those guys are easily raking in six figures because they work on tall ass buildings that go way past 6 floors. But since this guy is from Alabama they aren't really building too much big buildings so its mainly location.

Yes hurry up and jump through your ass and get that work floor covered with such manufactured decking. The lighter the gage and the shorter the sheet the easer it is. Cut that floor in , weld and flash it, shoot the studs, clean off the floor and hurry up and get out of the other trades way before they bury you. Now move everything to the floor above and do it all over again. And remember hurry,hurry,hurry. It’s a very exciting work your balls off trade. Be proud.

Shim pack under the column base. Don't trust nuts to hold the elevation. A heavy building will strip the treads. The same mistakes happen over and over that's why you need a old smart ass with some finger left in the gang . Using nuts to hold elevation ,has kill good Ironworkers in the past. Then you got half nuts with lest treads, crazy.

Nothing came close to local 40 nyc ironworker. Man lifts and full body harness that’s not ironworking. Only tied off if on a float and it was with a 3/8 line on your rigging belt. Never disclose union wages none of anybody business except at a union meeting.

Fuck 😂 I have a buddy who was a Journeyman Broilermaker for 4 years then he came over to Ironworking and we threw his ass up 8 stories on a 6inch beam and said come on pussy we got work to do, he cooned everything for about 4 weeks before he had the guts to get up and walk. You guys definitely do not do what we do, you just stay on the ground and jack your little tank up while we fly our shit up and connect it by hand
