And understatement? My cousin told me what I said was an understatement, I took it as irony kind of way…

Understatement is when you actually portray something to be of less importance than it actually is. For example, suppose a flood occurs and the death toll is really high as a result of it and someone says “oh it’s pretty bad” it’s an understatement (because it is not just bad but it’s tragic and absolutely unthinkable the kind of destruction a flood brings) So basically u lower the importance. Irony is not just a statement, it can be a situation also it’s just what you say or what is expected of you and you do the exact opposite or the opposite thing happens.
