Orange is one of those colors that I never expected to need or want, and then I tried it and liked it. But unlike blue or red, it's a color I only need one of. This one looks like it shades nicely. The one I'm using is a great color with nice saturation, but it's flat as a pancake. If I'm going to use orange, I'd like a little something extra, like shading.

I agree on orange. I haven't used many orange inks but Yu-Yake has good shading and performance. This year I filled my Namiki Emperor with Yu-Yake and was ready for an ink change long before it ran out. The novelty wears off quickly but I enjoy orange ink from time to time.

is there a reason you call the ink well behaved? I know nothing about ink (aside from that it looks pretty) 😅

Yes, it isn't prone to feathering, it has good lubrication, and cleans nicely out of my pens.
