Question about the Hubo: I thought the “Haber es Hube” part maybe referencing the definition To Do and not There is/There are that comes from the word Hay. I’m refreshing my Spanish and I’d like to know if there’s a difference them from haber and hay. Thanks!

@@jasminmorales3667 ​Hello, haber is the verb that the following come from: hay (there is/are) hubo (there was/were) había (there was/were) habrá (there will be) habría (there would be) There isn’t always a great translation for “haber” into English. But when we translate it, it will be “there [some for of ‘to be’]” Although you might come across it in some contexts in the form "haber" to me "there to be", like "podría haber una solución" "there could be a solution". Haber will also be used in the perfeect tenses such as the present perfect tense. I have some videos on that if you're interested! Hope that helps!

I can’t believe this still gets stuck in my head from 9 years ago when my Spanish teacher played it in class. This teacher made us communicate only in Spanish for the entire class, and by the end of the year many of us could have entire conversations in Spanish. Although I never had that kind of immersion again and I’ve forgotten most of it, I’ll never forget my irregular preterite verbs :)
