If you're trying to irrigate a small farm, there's probably not a more economical solution than using 2 inch pumps and rain gun sprinklers. These big sprinklers put out big water volume and cover a large area to make watering your field quick and easy. Our sprinkler covers about 1/3 acre at a time and can drop 1 inch of precip in about an hour.

Man Phil, I'm watering the hell out of my grass over here...can't imagine having to manage watering all that! But I feel you...I don't have irrigation, so I use sprinklers on a timer, and have similar water volume issues when I hook up multiple sprinkler heads. Kinda' aggravating. 🤨👍

The fire hose nozzle does 1gal per second so that makes quick work on the trees. The overhead irrigation takes much longer. Figure it takes 26k gallons to drop 1inch per acre you gotta move a lot of water (while fighting evaporation). I'm of the thought that anything is better than nothing and we'll do what we can with the equipment we have

Watering for sure is a chore but very necessary to save all that hard work you did over the years. Great job. When are you getting that chipper to run mulch down your rows? Hope it will increase time saved with weeds and grass cuts. Just a thought. Pumpkin patch?

I don't really have any intention of getting a chipper. We've rented a chipper before and its very time consuming. We've received tons of wood chips free from local tree services and found spreading wood chips to also be very labor intensive and I don't know if the work was worth the result.

Yes I forgot you got the wood chips from the tree trimmers. Everything worth doing takes work. But you have machines to spread it?

Ever consider drip irrigation? It is a bit of work to setup but does a great job and puts a lot less water on the weeds

yes we have, especially on the trees under 2 years old as they're most vulnerable.

Love this setup! I need some help with a few more details as I'm trying to setup something similar for my boss' food plot for his hunting. 1) So you're filling the 275 gallon tote with the Duromax pump (which I have the same one) & you empty with the Pacer pump with one 1.5" Rain Gun Sprinkler. Does the tote ever get overfilled or emptied between the two pumps, or does it have a decent equilibrium? 2) With this tandem setup, what is the longest run you have all together? You'll have to dial in the throttle on the duromax to get it pumping into the tote at the right rate. Mine is always set up where I can kind of keep an eye on it and I can go adjust the flow as needed. The duromax is capable of moving water a long distance so I have no doubt you could go 1000ft or more as long as there isn't too much elevation. The key is using as short of a run from the tote to the sprinkler as you can so you can maintain as much pressure as possible.... that's why I went to this setup. I have 600ft of 2" layflat and if I try pump from the pond directly to the sprinkler over that distance it loses a lot of pressure and it'll only wet a 50-60ft circle at the most. This setup is doing consistently 120+ft.

My plan is to go 300 ft from the pond to the tote with my Duromax and then ~175 ft from the tote to the food plot sprinkler with the Pacer (I'm going to buy the same one you have). That should cover me then. I plan to run the same sprinkler you have and just run one since we only have a 1/3 acre of a food plot. I greatly appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us! Do you think by watering them you’re training your roots to remain shallow and less tolerant to drought?
