Filmed near Lethbridge, Alberta, this film documents the history of the St. Mary's dam, constructed in 1959 in Southern Alberta, which reclaimed 235,000 acres. The workings of the main and branch canals are explained.

I grew up on an irrigated farm near here, and know all about flood irrigation. Bet I can still set one of those canvas dams if I had to.

Shovels and canvas were used on the Dogterom east of Lethbridge before wheel lines and pivots. My farm relatives did not have to work out at a gym.
