My childhood spent in here. Known to me as the Pits. During year 9 summer holidays me and my mates camped here 6 weekends on the trot haha, 10 years later I'm still there running every week. Appreciate what you're doing purple 💜

Thank you so much for making these videos, I grew up in Irthlingborough, my Grandad worked in the mines. I live in New Zealand now so to see my home town on you tube is fantastic. I’m coming home for a month in June all your videos bring back memories for me and I will be hunting familiar places and people. Such a beautiful place. Good job you’re doing, thank you again

How lovely to know. I would be an idea to take an OS map with you. The signage towards Finedon is appalling. Feel free to message me on Facebook if you need a little extra advice. Always happy to help like that

Terrific walkabout as usual. The red gate into the site is interesting as it is one made by the fitters at Ebbw Vale Ironstone Mine, Irthlingborough; these gates were made from bits of scrap and old drill-rods for drilling explosive holes in the mines. Quick edit: the brick structure in the field is probably one of the ventilator shafts for the mine tunnel.....

The gate is awesome and I have a video to post on Facebook on just that very gate.. a ventilation vent, I thought as much thank you

The fishing lake gate was made by the blacksmiths of Ebbw Vale mine out of blasting drills which were 8 and 10 ft in length.

@@PurpleVision23 My home town 'Crow Hill' always seems to be forgotten about, but it is a big part of Irthlingborough. There was a P.O.W camp a.k.a little Italy at the edge of Crow Hill entering Little Addington. I know you are the person to find out about the Crow Family Farm.(I think that's where the name came from. There's a lot of Roman history found including mosaics etc which you can find out about in tge Stanwick lakes centre. Upstairs there's a bit of info but not enough. That's my backyard. Hope to see you around, let me know if you do and I'll give you some 'hot spots'.

In the summer when the waters are at their lowest there use to be hundreds of carp at the waters edge I’m assuming they were spawning it was amazing the thrashing around you could put ya hand out and touch them 😂

Nice, I've seen that there in my younger days. Awesome stuff

Rumours have it the ponds have been decimated by the Eastern European population fishing for them and eating them. Used to fish them and catch a fair bit. It was once an Irthlingborough Angling Club water but not these days.
@PurpleVision233 жыл бұрын
Yes I heard the same thing from the fishing club owner, who claims he saw the polish carrying the carp away to their car..
@carlitoalterego27093 жыл бұрын
@@PurpleVision23 I've fished there and seen the eastern europeans with their cool boxes to take the carp home. The last 2 years we have not caught 1 carp. Yet 3 years ago we'd catch guaranteed.😭😭
