Timmy's parents at their worst left him with an abusive babysitter, and she always gets fired when they find out just how bad she is. They still did everything to make sure Timmy had a comfortable, mid-class upbringing and let him know that they loved him. Iruma's parents neglected him to the point where he couldn't attend school because he had to work odd jobs for food and shelter, then sold him to a demon first chance they got. They are no where close.

Remember the whole premise of season 1's finale was that *nothing* the forcefield guy could do could make Iruma feel *any* despair. The mere thought of his biological parents SEEING HIM AGAIN fills him full of so much despair he has a breakdown

The fact that even for demons standards Iruma's life was hell, look at Asmodeus for example, a loving family who admires him, Clara's family is weird but pretty supportive and tight, most of the other students also have close family that they love and/or are proud of with some exceptions, but nothing even compared to the horrors Iruma's parents make him go through while growing up. I haven't watched it in a while, but I really hope at some point one of the students innocently ask Iruma why he lives with his "grandfather" instead of his parents, and Iruma just telling them some of the things he lived with his parents (without making it obvious that he and his parents were humans obviously) and that Sullivan went for him and took him away from his parents, and that Iruma is grateful for that because he loves his grandfather and has never been happier than he is now, I just want to see a scene like this in which the other misfits look at Iruma with horror at the realization of the kind of life he had before Sullivan took him with him, and Asmodeus not only horrified but ready to absolutely smoke Iruma's parents, even better, an episode in which we see Iruma's parents eventually finding Iruma in the netherworld, and trying to take him away, and the misfits, especially Asmodeus and Clara trying to keep Iruma, and the parents somehow unleashing chaos and traumatizing several students and demons solely due to their weird and ridiculous personalities, just nonchalantly talking about how they need to put Iruma's life at risk just so they can get something out of it, and practically speaking about making him work for them (like he used to) like a servant to attend their needs, to the point of disgusting even demons as they seem to have more sense of morality and family values than Iruma's parents, not to mention Sullivan getting angry that they would even dare to try to come for Iruma again but not being completely surprised by it.

Unfortunately I can't help but feel like we are going to see them again, after all there's still the unanswered question of "how" they knew to summon a demon (especially a high ranked demon) and actually make a deal that was beneficial for themselves. That's not something people can casually do. Also there's the fact that them showing themselves to Iruma means he can finally call them out on their BS and showcase his growth from being a complete pushover that did whatever they wanted due to him thinking it was natural/they "loved" him to a strong, emotional grown individual that has been shown genuine love and respect.

Even if the illusion was real, the audacity of his real parents to take advantage of their own son from a young age and make him do all the work whilst also shamelessly mooching off of his hard earned money and use it as they please. You're not wrong. They are somewhat similar, though not as terrible as Iruma's parents. At least Timmy's dad has a job for his family. Both he and his wife are idiotic, negligent, and oblivious and often make Timmy do all sorts of crazy chores and housework and hardly help him out. They say they love Timmy, yet they're hardly around or helpful towards him. Plus, they leave him with an evil babysitter who has tried to kill Timmy on more than one occasion. Seriously, how has Vicky NOT been sent to prison? Also when Timmy's father often gets himself into trouble more than once, he often relies on his son to clean up a good portion of his messes. In the case of Iruma's parents, I'd say their ten times as bad and don't want to work at all. They treat their son like a slave and have him take care of more dangerous messes and even souled his soul to the devil.

Interesting, this show is strikingly similar to another anime I watched many years ago, called Battle Butler Hayate. Blue-haired antagonist is abandoned by his shitstick parents (more specifically, they use all his earnings for vacations, and then sell him off as collateral to the Yakuza to repay a loan), he gets taken in by some spiritual being, and so the story begins.
