Puppy is a beatmaker though don’t get it twisted he can make a beat on his own and has Dunso just like Jermaine Dipree but yes you are right in Timberland does it too when they use keyboard is and people who actually know how to play instruments I noticed that for instance Timberland will come up with the percussion and start out a B and then he’ll tap in with the keyboardist J. Cole also does the same thing so at some point we got to start to wonder who actually produces on their own I believe R. Kelly might’ve done a lot of things actually all on his own Ryan Leslie did things on his own those are people who really need the credit when it comes to producing not just people who are rains other people stuff

What’s the difference
@jman1562001
@jman1562001 2 жыл бұрын
@@anotherway18 From my understanding a beatmaker essentially makes the beat, but a producer arranges/composes the record. Adding little sounds, putting a singer here or there, laying another instrumentation, basically bringing the record to life in a different way. For example, the MVP remix record was originally BIG L's single, Puff took that same record and instead removed the boom bap style more prominent and smoothed it out with the piano and little subtle elements which became "One More Chance". Same beat, but a different record. Plus being a A&R/music executive, the fact that the Puff's and Irv's have a name recognition gives it more credibility then a say a upcoming beatmaker. Hell didn't the guy from the Hitman Production squad take credit for Kanye West beats that too.

Sean Combs also was doing the same thing for most of the bad boy releases from the time he started the label til toward the end of the 2000s. He got credit as co-producer on some songs for Biggie, mase, total, lox, faith Evans for example and never actually programmed a drum machine, played a instrument but would pick a sample for a artist to rock with for a single to sell Records which is why he got that kind of credit along with being executive producer!

Especially opportunities that they probably wouldn’t have had on their own and that open bigger doors for them down the road. Everybody’s entitled to move the best way that they see fit however. True, but JD still has kept a "farm team" of niggas around like Carl-So-Lowe, Manuel Seal and others who produced under him. My now ex-wife, was one of his ghost writers on early records by Xscape, before Kandi and Tiny(T.I.'s wife) wrote anything for Xscape and my ex-wife knows both Kandi and Tameka(Tiny) personally!! Of course, JD is not gonna ever admit to having ghost writers, most rappers won't but quite a few of them do, no one cares about R&B artists having other writers, but in Hip Hop, it's always been considered taboo to claim credit for tracks you didn't actually make and/or songs you didn't write!!!

Even Nore said to him that i was the same beat and the clown kept on talking like he s out of reality which he probably is.

Everyone must keep in mind, a beat maker is the producers of the track but that doesn’t mean you produced the song. But, he should’ve gotten some producer credit on those songs. Most, if not all, major producers have producers signed to their production companies, but the good ones give what’s owed, co-producer credits.

When it comes to publishing a beat maker is like a musician.. A producer puts all the pieces (musicians, people ) in place to make a song..

I didn't make a beat but I did play guitar on a fat lip track back in 2001.We ran into each other at guitar center on Sunset and I ended up at his apt in silver lake a few days later. I sat and played some chords but had no idea he was chopping them up on the mpc. I split after not really thinking anything of it. A year later I was in the car and heard my playing( musicians can hear themselves) he chopped it up and used it on his new album.

Jermaine Dupri did this too. This wasn't just a NY thing. JD, Puff, Irv, Dre, and that's just hip hop. If we go to the RnB and Pop producers and song writers its even more rampant. The industry is dirty and everyone is trying to get a piece of the song pie. Especially if they know it's going to be a hit. It's still happening today.
