Is 10th Ed Warhammer 40K any good?

I think 10th edition took away all of the RPing and flavor of the game. Sure there are enhancements and regiments or whatever they're called, but they took away a lot of the really cool list building.

i am not liking 10th, while in 9th edition i started creating my own ruleset, inspired from previous editions and other games and now i enjoy that created ruleset SO much more. No stratagems, more dynamic gameplay, more lore based and no (major) issues with balancing. I recommend people to try out alternative rulsets.

I only started playing since 9th and this 10th edition feels much better, they took out most of the unnecessary stuff and game is much easier to understand now, I even managed to explain it to a couple of friends that are getting into warhammer too now

I heavily dislike 10'th because there is no customization, no Psychic, no points per model, and no flavor. Played 2 games of 9'th last week and it was way more fun than 10'th. Regarding "too many stratagems", the solution is simple - select 8 strats before the game and you can only use those while playing. It's a good self-imposed limit and flows way faster than having to re-read all the strats every time. I will say however that 10'th gets 2 things right - Universal special rules and a more forgiving Strength/Toughness balance. 9'th is extremely lethal (which I like, this is 40k after all)

I hate no points per model. It gets rid of any wanting to kitbash I had. I used to think it was a fun challenge to see if I could build a space marine or something like that out of spare bits but what's the point now. Quite stupid

Stratagems in 10 were greatly reduced in number (although there are still a lot of them).

I could probably write for quite a while… but I really hate 10th, and I’ll leave it at that. 9th had some good crunch and fluff, so I’ll stick with that. Grimdark Future is a good alternative if people really want simplicity, and it makes for a good- quick- game. 10th really feels soul-draining. No flavor, no customization, and though the main thing for wargaming is your opponent and rolling dice… I really don’t enjoy it.

Been playing since 3rd edition and 9th and 10th are unplayable for me. My group plays 5th or One Page Rules. Tired of having to treat 40k like a second job and still gettting trapped by some gotcha moments.

the issue i have with 10th is GW doesn't understand that now the meta is bring an absolute fuck ton of vehicles and make your opponent hate you. Imperial guard can take an absolute but ton of tanks and still have enough for infantry. space marines feel more like a hoard army, and finally the shooting phase is really strong. Like I made a joke about it being Tauth edition, because it seems like if you're really good you don't even need melee.

I play 40k since 2nd edition (although in 2nd edition just a few before 3rd edition was introduced). Its much more simplefied and far away from the immersion from older editions. But clearly better then 8th and 9th edition which are very close. From what I hear in your video about your opinions I think you will like it way more then 8th but not perfect. From a balance design its the best BY FAAAAAAR.

Depends what faction you play. v9 was wonky and rule-ridden, but plenty of customisation which made for great army compositions in my opinion. I went back to custodes and nids for v10. Let's say I'm not having a great time between custodes power level going from obnoxious to plain worthless horde, and nids being unable to play monster mash. Gargoyles and OC shenanigans is basically all that I have left with the bugs. That's really not it for me! 40K needs to cattle to a wider audience tho, so I guess I can just sit this one out, and keep playing HH/AoS.

As for you, I've been looking at other editions and listening to audiobooks and it's gone from 10 to 0 since Cadie's fall + changing Warhammer 40th to Wokehammer 40k doesn't help much either, but what do we want from GW Bootlicker(you). Check out old editions from Rogue Trader. FYI Warhammer 40k is heavily inspired by Warhammer: The Old World or also known as Warhammer Fantasy.
