Is 2023 Toyota Camry TRD still the best sporty midsize sedan? Review and Drive.

The TRD tested had no factory added equipment and had the base MSRP of 34,480 including destination. There were few items added at the Southeast distribution center.

Hey Matt, Did you ever wonder why you get a screen on the dash to play with but you cannot legally use your cell phone while driving? A little F'd up don't you think? At 80 years that stupid screen prevents me from buying any car that has it sticking up out of the dash. You did a good review though.😎

Yeah, some of those can definitely be distracting. Most of the navigations either built in or through android auto have a built in blockade so you can only control it via voice. A little help I guess lol

At the end of the day the combination of performance great exterior design at such a low price greatly tops vehichles with low performance but up to date technology like the civics acuras accords etc. that's why these cars selling like hot cakes very hard to find a new one of these at a dealership right now because they sell like crazy

I feel like everyone who buys this will at least put on an aftermarket carbon and leather steering wheel.

This is built to a price point so you can’t expect a “german performance” level car

Sonata N line is about 35k as well. A lot more fun to drive.

I have this car and 301 hp is more than enough. It's only front wheel drive so 350 hp would just spin the tires all the time and never hook up. MPG's would go way down as well. As it is you get better gas mileage than the GR Corolla with twice the cylinders.

Make it AWD with 350hp? I just think that TRD should stand for something more than a spoiler.

@@MattTheCarguyYou should know that TRD USA cars has always been just about looks and some handling, it has never been about more power, just like on the trd pro trucks

@@tinhinnh true but the trucks at least get the beefed up suspension. It would be nice to see some action here as well. Lexus ES has adaptive suspension with F sport handling.

350 would barely make them chirp. The car is beefy so it won't be an issue.

The TRD Camry reminds me of the ‘sports cars’ of the 1980s. It looks great, but really isn’t a sport car by modern standards. There’s nothing wrong with that.

That's true. If you look at performance of the 80-90's cars they seem so slow but when I was growing up they were the fastest available. Integra, Celica, 240z, although I owned 300ZX Twin Turbo and it was very fast. 5s 0-60

The XSE solves most of these problems

It's very similar to the TRD with slightly different suspension and more luxury features.

@@jrod1908 the suspension tweaks SRE just boltons. They can also be added to the xse

@@jrod1908 true but those suspension changes can always be made aftermarket. And XSE will give you all the luxury features. The TRD has literally zero features.

TRD catback exhaust, 19" forged wheels, heated steering wheel and seats, suspension, strut bars, sway bars, full body bracing, full arrow kit, spoiler, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic, adaptive cruse, upgraded bigger brakes, keyless entry. I own the car so I know.

@@r3games1985owning the TRD would u say it’s better for everyday drives. I want more of a sporty exhaust and suspension so I’ve figured the TRD was the best but also the XSE v6 does have a few better features
