If Nissan plays their cards right, and keep the amazing discount on these Frontier as aggressive as they've been, I think they're going to eat Toyota's lunch. I keep reading comments everywhere (youtube, IG, Reddit) of people who wanted a new Tacoma, but didn't want to pay the extra $10,000 for the '24, making the switch to the Frontier. And if Nissan were to bring back the X-Terra, made it basically a Frontier in SUV form, and kept the V6, at the same lower prices, I can absolutely see the 4Runner sales suffering as well.

Bought my first Nissan pickup king cab 4 cylinder in 1993 had it in the family for 31 years with 380,000 miles and sold it this year for $500 and it was still running. Bought myself a brand new 2022 Frontier SV v6 4x4 Long bed and 2 years later it runs like new. Toyota has reached Hyundai’s quality. Nissan’s trucks are bulletproof.

Someone got a bargain for $500! Wish it was me! I have a 1987 Hardbody that I bought in 1995 with 204,000 miles already. Now in 2024, 427,000 miles. Still stacking heavy loads on it. How can any of these Toyota fans claim Nissan is junk? Have you seen the Million Mile Frontier on the TFL truck channel? It's a 2007. If I was buying new, it would have to be Nissan. No manual transmission is my only complaint. Mine is 37 years old and acts like new.

It was more torquey, and the steering was better, but going over ohio Roads, it was jarring. I tested the tundra and i loved it. I didnt need a 1/2 ton. I simply wanted a 1/2 ton. And i was hesitant due to the main bearing issues that they finally put a recall and a reason for yesterday. O well. Anyway, i loved how the frontier drove. It was smooth. It had some power for what it is. I bought a frontier pro 4x this last week. I tried other trucks too. Really the only ones i would have gotten are the 3 i listed. Honest answer, YES. The new Frontier is what the 23 Tacoma was. Multiple decade Toyota loyalists are switching platform because of what they did to the Taco, 4Runner, and that silly FJ Cruiser which is just a $50k Rav4. Toyota is no longer Toyota and it's kind of sad. They abandoned what made them successful. I'm now prepared for the 20-30 y/o fanbois to flood me with ignorant and condescending responses.

@@noxnyc23 Have you been loyal to Toyota since 1989? I know absolutely nobody over 40 who will buy a Toyota ever again. The reputation of being somewhat boring but capable and overbuilt for longevity exited in 2024 with the last of these 4Runners. It's never coming back and Toyota is no better than anyone else now. They also have some of the highest prices (over $44k for an SR5?!) with no ability to order a vehicle, they only do allocations with expensive packages added that you have to buy, and some of the worst customer service of any manufacturer. It's tragic, really. I'm not coming at you personally but I'm making more than a minor legit point here. Wait and see.

The frontier will pull a lot of small/medium travel trailers no problem. Might cost you more in gas, but its worth it due to the much lower price point. Also, they're WIDELY available - couldnt find a single tacoma anywhere near what i bought in terms of features. For 38.5k, i basically bought what would cost around 46/47k tacoma.

The Tacoma is the thoughtless mid size purchase. The truck for someone who doesn’t really need a truck, but sees they’re popular. The “live, laugh, love” or “salt life” of trucks. Theres so many of them on the road, I can’t help but think the owner is a lemming. I had one and couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Recently bought a used ‘22 SV w/ 25k miles for a good price. It has a lot of options installed including heated seats/mirrors/wheel, factory coated bed, side steps, hard bed cover, etc. Its much more truck than any Tacoma (or any midsize) for the same price. It does but not in pro4x trim (unless you are in canada). You can get the 6 ft bed in a S or SV kingcab or LWB SV crew cab. The only thing you lose out on is the rear electronic locker but I suppose if someone really wanted it you can grab an axle from a salvage yard from any 2021+ and wire a switch. I believe you can also by just the locking diff on its own if you wanted to install it.

I am considering this as well crossing my fingers that the dealer won't ripped me too much ^_^, planning to go to Nissan Kinosha WI. This is like a price of a Rav4XLE right now, but I need a truck more for camping and adventures ^_^. Toyota really let me down with their turbos...

I like Toyota. Work as a tech at Toyota and man I would not buy the new vehicles. So many issues as little as a trim piece to a new short block… I can’t decide on a frontier or GMC canyon at4

Toyota really screwed up with the 4cyl turbo. Glad i got the 3rd gen while it was still new. The new frontier looks good, and if i needed a new truck, i may consider because i'm not paying more for a tacoma to tow less, have about the same mpg, and less pickup than you can get a frontier for. And this is coming from someone who wouldn't drive a last gen frontier in a million years!

I love my 2014 Tacoma, but gotta say this Frontier is looking much cooler, like a real truck, Tacoma has gotten too space age, and Nissan offering much more than the new Tacoma, and at a much better price!

If you don't need a rear locker than the SV has the 6ft bed. This one is off road oriented where a longer bed isn't really needed or necessarily a bonus.

Swap the axle or buy the electronic locker and install it. People who offroad should be able to wrench so those are reasonable options.

@@spyder000069 That's what I would do. But it would be cool if Nissan let you option it at the dealer. What I would REALLY want is to swap in the 6MT trans from the previous generation, or better, option it in the new one. I'm spoiled after 37 years on the same 5 speed in my Hardbody.

I really like the body style of the truck. My only real gripe personally is the red trim. I want an all black one but the red lining on the interior and exterior I don’t like. Other than that I’m probably still getting one. 😂

With Toyota failing on all levels in the past few years, Nissan might be the best out there now. I'd rather take a chance on a Nissan truck over any Toyota product. Nissan cars with that crappy CVT hurt the trucks reputation.
