For portrait yes, for landscape I prefer 3:2, for street I love the square format. 😊

I was just thinking that too. I've been using a full frame lately and it feels better. Prob cause it's relatively new to me. There a great video by e6 Craig guy about it too

Great video. Your videos always make me smile, lift my curiosity and leave me with an I-could-do-that inspiration. I just find your material so accessible and motivating. I am going to go and play around with the dusty aspect ratio switch on my Panasonic Lumix LX100.

Thanks angus. Yeah that 43 ratio is great. Its the same as medium format just smaller sensor. But it gives that medium format feel to it. Appreciate the k8md words. Cheers 🍻

Yeah. 120mm looks scary but should be fun. 12 shots only

I think goes for most of the olympus pen models also. I use 4:3 mainly. For portraits i use 3:4. Same goes with my phone if i dont have a camera with me

Yeah it's a cool aspect ratio. Takes in more of the world. It reminds me of medium format. From the smallest sensor to the biggest lol 😆

Thanks for a great video on aspect ratios. I shoot the following aspect ratios 1:1, 6:7, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 1:2, and 1:2.8 The 1:1 aspect ratio was my favorite until I tried 6:7
@robdido6 ай бұрын
6.7 looks interesting. I'll have to experiment with that one. Cheers 😆

Sir do you think 4:3 Aspect ratio gonna be better thn 3:2 for wedding photography because 16.9 not gonna be suitable for it
@robdido7 ай бұрын
Not sure. 4:3 looks more like medium format and better for portrait shots in my opinion. But I guess the customer can choose what they like too.
@creativemind_27987 ай бұрын
@@robdido yes even 4:5 is good for portraits

when I studied photography we shot on film, and then printed our images in the dark room, on 8x10" paper (that was the standard for b&w). You lose a bit off both sides, so to allow for the bit you would lose I learned to take a step or two back. It took me years to stop doing that! btw that canvas of your dog *is* awesome, I love it.

Yeah ita great painting I printed. Rhe artist found jerry on insta and painted her out of the blue. Picking an aspect ratio at the photo computer kiosk was a pain and what inpired me to make video.

4:3 has to be my favorite as when it comes to devices it makes it looks bigger But i also became accustomed to 16:9 due to it being a standard in most media and devices
@robdido2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Its like a medium format size. Its the goldie locks aspect 😆 not too big not too wide.. i like 16 9 also especially on youtube as it fills it up.
@whatsrandom64872 жыл бұрын
@@robdido i also like 3:2 as it’s between 4:3 and 16:9 and it’s a good mix of of the two of them

I had kind of the same experience when I went from my Canon A85 compact camera that shot 4:3 to a DSLR that shot 3:2. Now I am back on 4:3 with Olympus (OM System now!). I prefer 4:3 especially because it works better for portraits. I will be enjoying the short video with the Holga :-)

True. Portraits are much wider rhan the slim 3:2. Yes never used 120.. easy and cheap gateway the holga. Whenbi got it i laughed. Feels like a toy. Ill buy the hasslebad next Lol 😆

That was very useful tip about the 3x4 aspect ratio. Thank you for that. I think 3x2 in portrait is horrible. It is much too narrow, so 4x3 is my favorite too.
@robdido3 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats what i noticed when in portraits. I call the it the Micro Four Thirds Medium Format MFTMF.. 😆

The Holga looks like it’s going to be fun to shoot with, but I have a feeling 120mm film and processing costs are going to make 35mm seem cheap!

Yeah. More the hassle of going into big city. Its a dying art. If i like it ill buy the 20k hasslebaad.. 😆 not

I never realised you do 3:4 aspect, but I’m assuming it’s just a vertical crop of the sensor and as such loses a lot of the pixels at the sides. It’s a shame the sensor can’t rotate 90 degrees giving loads more format options. Looking forward to the video with the plastic camera. It’s quite hard to get film developed and printed here at a decent price, but my solution would be to use a mate who develops and prints films. He’s got a small business set up because he saw a whole in the market. The Mona Jerry on canvas looks great!
@robdido3 жыл бұрын
Correct the 3:4 setting does crop the sides so better just to tilt the camera. Good idea a rotating sensor should patent it lol. Maybe one day the artist will win the Archibald art prize and Jerry will be worth a fortune 😔🐕

Interesting Roberto, I didn't know about the 3/4 ratio. I do now! Thanks. The 4/3 ratio suits me fine, as you say, it still leaves room for cropping later. You're right about the price of film, it is expensive. Look upon it as a luxury, just for every now and again. Although only 12 frames on the Holga will test your discipline!
@robdido3 жыл бұрын
Yeah i find the 35mm ratio a bit to slim. 43 is the sweet spot. Yes film is a novelty gotta travel to the city. I guess i could use online services that some offer. Might do 12 different topic shots, but will probably end up doing 12 shots of Jerry 😆
