Is a 2022 Dodge Challenger Super Stock a BETTER muscle car than a Shelby GT500?

The Challenger has been a stand out performance car and the Super Stock version is no different. Under the hood is a 6.2L Supercharged Hemi that spits out 807HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Shelby GT500 is Ford's most powerful production car with a 5.2L Supercharged V8 pumping out 760HP & mated to a 7-speed DCT. I love both the Challenger and Mustang. I've had 2 Mustangs a California Special GT and a GT 5.0; Challenger T/A 392. They are both great to drive, nothing bad to say about either one.

These Hellcats are going to go down in history as the most powerful and sexy muscle cars ever...I know some of the old classics are sexier but the HC's are very close looks wise but way more powerful from the factory...I'm a Vette owner but love all the the perf cars from Ford Chev and Dodge...got my HC Red Eye on order and will add it to my stable with the 2019 Z06 manual...2010 ZR1...the HC's are the last of the true muscle cars left and sexy as hell.

If the Redeye and GT500 weren't so expensive I would have put an order in for a redeye this month. Saved myself $25k-$30k CAD and traded in my widebody scat for a ZL1 order. Just couldn't justify the price tag of either of these 2 beasts over the ZL1. Ps. I need me an "On Throttle!" shirt. My 3 year old loves it when you say it 😆

I like both the Challenger and the Shelby but I wouldn't buy any of them. The super stock is the trim to buy for the Challenger lovers. It has everything they love.

The Super Stock has drag radials which are not good for everyday use, especially in the wet. That's why I got a regular Redeye. The 10 HP difference is not significant.

Love the Mopar reviews I’m a Ford guy but pick up a plain jane hellcat pitch black 2020 with power dollars and 4% below invoice. Glad I did when I did. Feel bad now days for someone getting into a rare car or truck $$ Was looking at mustangs but no discounts at that time plus the challenger is a roomier car great for HWY runs

My Bullitt mustang had a feature called my vehicle. You can put in a code and it want go over 65 mph. Caught the mechanic taking a joy ride my first trip to get the oil changed. I let my son drive it with this feature turned on. He said something is wrong with this thing. I got a good laugh. I like the different color key fob idea..

JJ ~ Mango Tango, wide fenders so ya can fill the entire parking space lol. the Hell Cat can jump ya & rip your throat to shreds, the Cobra can strike ya lightning fast & zap ya with it's toxic venom, the Corvette can beat ya over the head with a couple of racing flags hahahahaha, not literally (wishing no harm to everyone) the hood & wheels are mega sweet. I'd feel in better control with the Shelby, the Challenger more so off the line. I completely dig the triple matte black - hood, roof, & trunk option = excellent. now that's an American muscle car engine > juicy. interior might seem dated, yet classic depending on perspective. there's no fingerprint finishes which I like, the basic layout is just right to me. oh yeah on throttle - this is like chocolate silk cake & I want a slice. great report - tony

Like the Camaro ZL1/1LE , the GT500 is a pony car/sports car with muscle car power. The Challenger Super Stock, appearance and drivetrain, is pure muscle...IMHO. I'm a Camaro guy, but I've been eyeing this trim level for a while right now and thinking about getting one.
