Air Cooling cpus & gpus is safer less of a hassle than water cooling & the difference in cooling isn't even worth paying attention to. With Air Cooling the only thing you have to do is make sure you're case has a good intake & exhaust & change the paste every few years. With water cooling there's so much more to worry about with the obvious safety risk of pumping Water over an electrical device plugged into your homes electrical outlet. There's also the fact that processors throttle & cut off to protect themselves from burning up.

@Denbot.Gaming

naahhhh wrong... a basic AIO will beat most air coolers, forget using PBO on an air cooler, the delta between average and hot spot will be huge, leading to sub par performance.. I've been using liquid since early 2000s without any issues, the liquid in them isn't conductive, or at least it shouldn't be anyway. I know custom loops wouldn't be because you pick what goes into them.

Reality is some Air coolers perform better than AIO iv been using the same Noctua NH-D15 on the 3rd build now no issues. 9800X3d will not throttle until it reaches 95 C

Noctua and arctic make some good coolers... but you're not going to be a good AIO... cooler masters for example... 360mm rad, 8000 RPM pump.... £120... those things keep a boosting its nuts off 13900ks cool even when its running unlocked on those silly unsafe power limits... try doing that on air and tell me air is better the liquid cooling. it all comes down to core density and power limits, if you want the most out of your hardware, liquid is the way to go, it run cooler and stay healthier for a longer time, even with over clocking, if its a system for your Nan then yeah keep it simple with a good air cooler

@@Eskoxo I'm going of personal experience, tech might have come along way, so I could be wrong, but nothing dissipates heat like cold water flowing over those fins, Noctua is all about the fans, can always put those on your AIO and get the best of both worlds... or a custom loop 🤷‍♂ And the CPU does throttle in steps approaching that thermal limit, the 95C is more of a safety limit, hard stop ,dip those voltages ASAP, don't care if it drops 100 FPS , drop that clock speed now, sleep those cores. Temperature also impacts stability... let me guess you run your RAM over 50 C because its limit is 80 C... wrong... memory does really like going over 47 C... well the good B-Di stuff anyway, and temps over 62 C is lost frames per degree over 62 C... again because he impact frequency stability

For 4K gaming, would you recommend air or AIO cooling? I have the same cpu and might get the 4090 or wait till the 50 series drops
@TakeNoteZ
@TakeNoteZ Ай бұрын
@@shqd0w411 for 4k i would recommend AIO cooling since system will be pulling more resources for that res, so it can stay cool and still have good performance at 4k. If anything you can wait for the 50 series since they say that one would be the perfect ideal for 4k … even tho 4090 can still achieve a really good performance at 4k, but if you not in a rush then just wait 👍🏽

I use an Artic Liquid Freezer III but when I sell it give away a PC I like to replace the AIO with an air cooler because most people don’t clean their PC and an air cooler will give less problems in the long run. @@TakeNoteZ what was the effective clock speed on the cores.. just looking online the 9800x3d has a default TDP of 120W, I suspect either something else is holding it back like the game code or a power saving option some where. But if the effective core speed is showing much lower than the clock speed then that's know as clock stretching and it does it when the core is power starved normally, it could be that its hitting another limit before it uses the full 120watts. If it was my system I'd check the TDC, EDC and PPT limits and levels under load.
