Is a Budget Looper Any Good? | Lekato Looper/Tuner Mini Pedal Unboxing/Review

So cool; I just ordered one from Amazon. Way back in the early 90s, I was strolling thru the annual Dallas Guitar Show and stopped at a booth for the “Boomerang.” I’d never seen anything like it; it was basically a looping pedal. The thing was giant; like a wah wah pedal attached to small computer. It was also $300, which is something like $500+ in today’s dollars. I wanted it so badly, but couldn’t justify spending what. Amounted to halfnthe cost of my Blue Deluxe tube amp. For years after that, whenever I was in a guitar store, I would ask about the Boomerang and the vast majority of the guys behind the counters had no idea what I was talking about. There’s more to the story, but the gist is fast forward to today, and I’m now finally getting a looping effect…at a fraction of the cost of that old contraption. Technology is cool.

Love the tone you're getting in that first solo over your first loop, just after 9:00 in. What's your setup for that? And what you were playing was great too, not just the tone!

I am learning to use my looper and it is fun. However when I connect the USB to my windows chrome, the computer does not see the looper. Any suggestions for anyone that has had this problem?

how do u use distortion with it? everytime i do, it makes my loop distorted

Hello! Put the looper at the very end of the chain (Guitar, all your other pedals, looper, amp). If you put anything after your looper, it will effect the loop.

Is the tuner only for standard tuning? I tune half step and whole step down

This tuner can do any tuning. It's not like the TC Polytune where the polyphonic tuning mode will get messed up if you tune low. This can do alt tunings like most tuners

Is the Lekato Stereo signal ? Because thats a pretty big point. Does the boss have onboard fx? Perhaps stereo reverb?

Sadly the Lekato is a mono looper unlike the boss which is stereo. As far as fx, the boss has none

Hello! So, the microphone will need a 1/4 inch jack, much like a guitar cable. So something like this amzn.to/3bwIiAk (of course, Im not saying to get this one in particular. This is just an example of what I'm talking about) or any XLR to 1/4 inch jack adapter

They have a companion switch where you don't have to use your hands to switch between tune etc. Worth the addition! Plus, to have 'infinite' layers on each loop is amazing.

@@MantisCrawl hello again! If your talking about turning off the actual pedal, it will stay on until you unplug it from the power supply and or remove the cables. I think that's what your talking about. Is it playing the loop still?

Mine came without the 9 v power chord. I have one that is 15 v. Is that going work ??

I don't see why not. If it fits into the pedal's power supply jack(?) then it should. As long as the volts are higher than the pedal, you should be good to go.

I bought one of these and returned it, It records the "click" of the switch every time you press it, after a few overdubs you get a lot of annoying background clicks that ruin the loop, it has very cheap non isolated electronics inside, it is NOT true Bypass either as advertised!

No, but you can get a battery and use a jack to attach it. Also, you can power it using the USB cable attached to an external power brick or other standard 5v USB power source that you may have lying around.

There is no way to connect it to a Mac... The app Cubesuite keeps telling me to upgrade firmware through the OTA app over bluetooth but that OTA app doesn´t find the lopper. What kind of fu**ery is this, Lekato? Why can´t we simply ugrade via cable??? Anyone has the same problem?

Hey! Guitar noob here. Just bought this looper and it’s pretty great but had one question. Can you record the first loop at let’s say a clean tone, then have your overdub/ solo on top of that at a different tone such as a distortion sound? Clean base, distortion solo? Because right now when I use it, I record the clean loop, then when I change my amp settings (to a more distorted, overdrive tone) for my solo overtop the clean, it changes the clean loop sound to that distortion. How can I get two different tones?

Hello! So, to get a different tone in a loop (distorted over clean, Wah over chorus, Delay over dry, ext.) is by using another pedal. If you adjust the amp, you will ultimately change the tone of everything in your rig, including the loop. If you have a distortion pedal placed before the loop, you're able to get the clean loop with the distorted lead since you put it before the loop signal goes to the amp. I hope this helps!

@@savasavkovic7228 try changing the tones of your guitar by dialing the tone knobs between loops this shouldn’t affect the existing loops and will give you diverse sounds throughout the jam!

@@savasavkovic7228 also use your toggle switch if you have a guitar with one, there’s a reason there’s a “rhythm” and “lead” labels on pick selections. The neck pickup- being the rhythm selection, gives a beefier sound a bit more muffly but leave room for the bridge pickup- lead selection, to be a lot brighter and cut through the muffled rhythm

I actually ordered this pedal minutes before watching your demo of it. Are you certain it doesn’t work on macOS? It’s advertised that it does. If it doesn’t, I’ll be returning it.

I am 100% sure. I tried several times, but it didn't pop up in finder. It could be that my Mac isn't on Catalina yet. Several programs I use become unusable in that update, so I haven't installed it. If your Mac is in Mojave, then it does not work

Not to be rude but I do think you should try to edit your review somehow because you are telling potential buyers that it won't work with their Macs. I also am surprised Lekato has not told you about the download. PC users don't need the download I'm told.

Dude it’s a cheap $40 pedal. Companies that charge 5x as much for a pedal won’t necessarily come with a power supply. Do some research before making purchases.
