If some converters are up to NCC standard why don't they become registered as an approved converter? and I understand it's easier to get insurance for a fully approved camper.

It’s expensive, for a few reasons. Crash testing of the chassis is costly and once approved it’s for that conversion/layout. A lot of converters like to create different designs and layouts, so if a customer makes a request, they can do it.

Does the NCC not set a standard to follow? I would not purchase a camper van unless it was NCC approved as I think resale value Will be better and insurance cheaper. Some private sellers look at dealer prices and try selling for the same, so you won't know how good the conversion is, such as insulation and wiring ect: and of course no warranty.

Random question for you. How much does a pop top add to a conversation?

I would never buy a diy van that's for sure. I'm looking for a motorhome right now, and everything that looks like the owners did any DIY on it are instantly skipped. There are too many people that seriously overestimate their capabilities and start putting in electric and gas. Dying in a fireball is just fine but not because of a gas leak by a diy'er. 😊 And no I don't do anything myself, there are craftsman that actually know what they are doing and don't need KZbin to copy the errors of others.😂

Imagine if they brought in retrospective action against the incorrectly installed hobs 😂

You haven’t even put a vapour barrier on.

😂 How many Transporter conversions have you seen with a vapour barrier on the outside of the insulation?

Sound deadened, then Thermo PRO liner ✅, insulation and carpet.
