I would say that when you have 2 Ojer in hand, there's no harm in jamming the first one down. At worst they kill it and ramp you, at best it sticks around and you go off earlier.

This is exactly what I came for. I draft mostly, and only play standard to hit daily goals, so a mono colored deck that lets me hit them dailies and isn't just mono X aggro is perfect. Never change, you beautiful bastard!

Something I think Seth missed is that pumping Ojer Axonil's power increases your non-combat damage - not that it would've mattered in any of the games, but it makes me think that Voldaren Thrillseeker would honestly be a fantastic card in this deck. I'm actually legitimately surprised that there isn't some mediocre pump spell that just happens to ping your opponent for 1 damage.

I think we need to look at Antagonise, +4/3 for 1R, make your chump attacks into trades or turn Axonil into an 8/7 for a turn and then 2 burn spells oughta do it

That first match was crazy! I think the opponent punted by not discarding the bolt dino and it cost them the game and then you just outpaced them in game 2 with burn. Crazy good games

48:50 I think the opponent killed the Sunshot Militia because they could tell that it was obviously a key card in whatever combo you're trying to set up. Sometimes, even if you don't know what the combo is, you just kill what looks like a combo piece to not find out the hard way.

I’ve had this exact combo in a draft deck, my first game I did 12 damage on turn 4, then ended 1-3 because that deck sucked in draft

Turn 1 > Island - Siren (with map) Turn 2 > Mountain - Sunshot Turn 3 > Mountain - Pirate (with treasure) Turn 4 > Mountain - God Then I tapped everything for 12 damage and opponent scooped lmao Then the other games were: - Island only and no mountain - Against a good dinosaur deck and beat me hard - A 20 minute game where the God was on the bottom 5 cards and slowly died to black removal

Yeah that's draft, you can have a real nice combo, but than you have a bad start hand or a fast Oppo and it didn't matter at all :( sad. Well at least you got to burn 1 hard with it.

during pre-release, i was playing a game of 2 headed giant where i managed to play "hit the motherlode" with sunshot militia out. i discovered for 1 (sunfire torch) and got 9 treasures, then proceeded to just tap down everything for lethal.

Match 2, my main thought was "Why play the Kumano on turn 2? Playing it turn 3 means Ojer Ax comes in with a +1/+1 counter on turn 4 and now increases all noncombat damage to 5.

I have an Ojer deck but it's nutty. It's based around landfall, so lots of tokes with Scute Swarm and mana increase w/ Lotus Cobra. Then you sac. tokens to Devouring Hellion and deal burn with things like Havoc Jester. Also you can increase Ojer's power with cards like Invigorating Surge and Roaring Earth. Quakebringer is also good friends with Ojer, BOOM!!!!

I might be a bit late to the party, but i think if you splashed black for Bloodtithe Harvester and Oni-cult Anvil, it could be way more powerful. Bloodtithe is absurd in it's own right, but it helps to synergize with the Epicure, the Faces, and gives another artifact for Sunshot Militia to ping with. And Oni-cult Anvil is just a busted card. Tap down blood tokens to ping, sac one to ping, then tap the construct with something else to ping again. That's 12 damage with Ojer on the battlefield, plus a life. With two or more Oni-cult Anvils, that should just be a dead opponent.

I think this combo idea might fit well in a boros shell, with Anim make a bunch of gnomes tap them down to deal 4 damage each time. If that dont work go wide strategy as a back up plan.

I've been running Thermo-Alchemist in this deck instead of Epicure. Hurts the beatdown plan a bit, but when you play the god and have any of the 1 mana burn effects, it's an instant 12 damage. Tap the Alchemist, cast the Play With Fire or End the Festivities (which untaps the Alchemist), tap the Alchemist again. 4, 8, 12. If you have 2 in play, that's 20 damage in one turn.

23:30 You should've played Sunspot Militia not Ojer, because if you tap things to militia it's 3 cards exiled by Virtue of Courage so you would get that land probably at the cost of tapping two things and would have an insane impulse draw engine on the table.

Platinum and higher this isn't an issue, but _every_ time I try to come back into the game after being gone for some months, I have to climb my way out of Copper and it is _painful_ how long every opponent's turn takes.

Potentially funny jank idea. Would it be worth maybe running a 1-of Agatha's Soul Cauldron? Counts as a tappable artifact for Sunshot and if you run out an early Sunshot that gets killed or maybe gets milled, you could eat it in the graveyard once you land an Ojer, give the activated ability to Ojer and the counter means every tap is also hitting for 5 instead of 4. Not to mention random hate value against decks doing graveyard shenanigans

I have a similar standard deck right now with Ojer that has 4 copies each of Thermo-Alchemist, Kessing Flamebreather, and Unruly Catapult. It's okay, but it is slower than the version in the video.

Ojer Axonil is a fun commander, particularly with things like Firebrand Archer, Impact Tremors. and End the Festivities. I have Sunshot Militia in v0 of the deck although I haven't had that pop off yet

I thought about trying ojer as commander in my torbran deck, but torbran adds to damage from all red sources, not just non combat damage to opponents. I’m curious tho

I could see ojer finishing off opponents quicker, but torbran can also board wipe opponents creatures, or swing in with hordes of goblins from krenkos and siege gang

@@WaveCom1000 the thing Ojer Axonil does is deal a surprising amount of damage from otherwise trivial spells. For example, with Impact Tremors or Witty Roastmaster out and any kind of sword on him you're dealing 15+ damage to each player from a Hordeling Outburst. The deck doesn't have a lot of room for defense, though. It is a glass cannon for sure.

I was questioning reality why nobody saw this card! Sleeper for sure! Unfortunately, ending the festivities deals 4(or more depending on axels power) to your opponent, but still just one to creatures he or she controls. Ojer just changes noncombat damage of red sources dealt to opponents. That early scoop of your seccond opponent was understandable, but wrong :)

I swear 90% of the time I just get stomped playing this deck. Either my opponent is playing obscene amounts of removal for my dorks, or the card draw is too slow to get to my pieces before getting murdered by humans

Collector's Vault is a cool idea, but I think it's ultimately just underwhelming. Otherwise the deck actually looks pretty solid. Wondering if the best brew is aggro with a combo backup plan, instead of combo with an aggro backup as you tried here.
