I think a lot of it comes down to teams taking on the quality’s of their best player. Jokic is a generational cool headed decision maker and is never in a rush. That’s why it feels like they always make the right play/shot.

Call me a blind man, call me cynical, but I truly think the only team that can present a 7 game series challenge is the Boston Celtics. The Celtics played a horrible game (missed free throws, live ball turnovers, missing shots, not boxing out on the weak side), and they still had the chance to take the lead with 40 seconds left and steal this game. But there’s no question-Denver is the defending champion, and they know who they are, and what they represent and they just go do it. Boston is still trying to figure it out how to win in clutch moments, and if there’s any moment to have a letdown, it’s right now because you’ll have the time and games to play in those clutch moments before the start of the playoffs.

I wouldn't really call Denver getting the number one seed a big struggle. It certainly not a given but there are two teams a game or less ahead of them and one of them just lost an All-Star. That means it's probably a two team race with a half-game separating them. I don't know how the schedule looks for OKC and Denver but Denver should be able to get the one if they're really committed to it.

I think we have an advantage in coaching/preparations/adjustments and late-game execution, but boston also has the shooting ability to blow us out of the water in some games, and if we're fortunate enough to get back to the finals, it would mean we overcame a gauntlet meanwhile boston cruised against a .500 8th seed and the knicks/magic before a slightly challenging ecf, so we wouldn't have homecourt and would likely be at a rest disadvantage.

As a Celtics fan, these last two games give great advice for beating the Celtics. Let Tatum destroy the team himself with hero ball and abysmal clutch time stats. If they give up on team basketball in the 4th, it's an L; if a coach can use common sense to outsmart Mazzula, they win. If C's feel like the win is in the bag, they're susceptible to a big run Joe will just shrug at. Tatum's 3 point shooting sucks--if he shoots several 3s in the 4th, that's great defense. Celtics are the best team in the league against mid and bad opponents. Tatum is a superstar against teams like the Spurs, Wizards, or Nets, but a ghost against any team with physicality, length, and solid wing defense. He's an "MVP candidate" who gets 32 with 12 FTs in 28 minutes against a bottomfeeding team, but 15 points on 25 shots, shooting 2/13 from 3, against a great team. He's a superstar who can't generate his own offense at will when the team needs it. His version of self-generated offense is a bricked sidestep 3 after dribbling for 10 seconds. He's the kind of superstar to proclaim himself the MVP and proceed to no-show in consecutive nationally televised games. He's the kind of superstar and MVP candidate who is 5th or 6th most clutch player on his own team. Tatum is not good enough to hang with a team like the Nuggets.

You could easily say the same about the nuggets. As a team, they shot 19% from 3, making only 4 of them. Both teams had 11 wide open shots, and the celtics scored 15 points off of them. The nuggets only scored 6. The nuggets also didn't come into the game locked in on the defensive boards. As for individuals, Jamal had a mediocre game, AG played terrorist ball for 3 quarters, MPJ didn't do anything really. KCP was excellent defensively and neutral offensively. Over all this was maybe a B- for the nuggets, and that's heavily carried by their 4th quarter execution
