If you're looking to take your work, personal, or other setup on the go, a portable monitor may be a good option for you!
In a time of remote work, there has been an influx of portable monitors on the market and fortunately, a decent amount are made by large and reputable manufacturers. However, this means it can be also difficult to navigate the landscape - use some of the considerations in the video to help pick the right monitor for your on-the-go setup!

Good video, I don't have a laptop but I've been thinking about it and a 2nd portable monitor is something that I would probably get as well. I have a little bit of feedback on the your video though, the music was a little too loud in my opinion. When the music got to it's loudest I could barely hear and make out what you were saying and I am wearing headphones. But overall I still got the jist of what you were saying.

Thanks for the feedback! I should have thrown a limiter on the music and used a compressor on vocals, and given the quiet parts a boost.

I've been considering it since I also run a laptop+monitor setup at home, but I can't really justify disassembling a bringing a 27 inch monitor everywhere. However, I wouldn't want to spend more than $80-100 on a portable monitor. Also, I do have a spare iPad lying around but i don't know if there's a good enough integration with a PC. Anyway, thanks for the video, rooting for your channel to grow even more.

Understandable! I was in the same boat; I really didn’t want to lug around an extra full monitor. It’s rough because in order to hit all the features needed, you’ll usually have to spend a bit more. Thanks for the kind words!

Got this, but never thought about only having usb-a on my computer. Figured I could use a cable with usb-a and usb-c, but that does not seem to work, the portable screen will start, but go into standy mode after a few seconds. Is a computer with only usb-a useless for this?

I am not totally sure; I can't seem to find a good answer on Lenovo's website. If I were to speculate, I would say your computer needs a USB-C port for this monitor to function, as the port provides both power AND display capabilities. Not sure if you could split up the two (1 USB-C to power, 1 USB-C to USB-A). Again, not 100% sure; I would potentially try Lenovo support to get a professional answer from the source.

I’m honestly not 100% sure. I would check the portable monitor’s capability to connect to various devices depending on what you want to use it for (if by “lapdock” you mean connecting to a smartphone/tablet)

Trouble is a portable monitor costs the same as a 24"- the lightest is around 2Kg

Very true, if you happen to find a monitor to use for both permanent and travel purposes, you may as well! I actually used to do this - I had a 19" monitor in school, and would throw it in a pillowcase when I needed to take it elsewhere. Now, my permanent monitors are pretty large and have too many cables to travel with, and I like to travel with as little as possible. So, a separate monitor for "travel" is a nice thing to have.

This particular monitor is much lighter than I expected, I have no issues with weight. You can certainly pack this in your personal luggage if it fits, but I would ensure to keep it flat and protected as much as possible.
