From my personal experience, a properly tamed spino is like mobile Armageddon. The thing can navigate the ark way faster than a rex which the rex is painfully slow. If you want a carnivore that can pretty much do any task, the spino wins. It's a fantastic swimmer, can kill pretty much anything solo, even when swarmed, looks badass, carries a lot of weight, and is far more psychologically terrifying to players than a t-rex. A couple years ago, we had a perfect tamed spino that we leveled all its points into health and attack power, and gave him the best saddle. He was a blood red spino we named "Carnage" after the Marvel villain. For shits and giggles, we set him to aggressive behavior and enabled wandering. About a month later, the admin was screaming at us to get Carnage under control because it was eating everyone and everything that moved. It had single handedly wiped out multiple small tribes, devoured entire dino egg farms, and was an all around menace. Eventually, the admin killed it... But we had already bred Carnage Jr., lol! Round two got our tribe banned from the server.

I still like Spinos better for three reasons. First, they can go anywhere, while a rex would have trouble in some areas (water, over rough-terrrain, thick forests). Second, the Spino has a wider ark where it can attack things. This really comes into play while swimming and getting attacked from multiple directions or when defending against aireal attacks. I have fournd the best way to take out a wild Alpha Rex is to attack it from the sides and rear by a fast land dino or by fliers; it can't react to them and attack outside a front 45-degree angle. Last, the Spino can swim. Crossing rivers or oceans is important in the game, and the Rex sucks at it. With a Spino I can swim anywhere, and get across with pretty much total safety from water dangers. Small water critters usually leave a Spino alone, and if they don't the Spino has a wide attack range to hit them. Large water predators you can probably handle unless you go deep to Squid or Mosasaur levels. Megaladons are never a problem. So as you say, if you going into a boss fight or raid a Rex is probably best, but all the rest of the time I'd take a Spino over a Rex, especially when travelling.

Bryce Felperin I agree completely but I am still annoyed about how unrealistic ark can be sometimes not just with the spino and rex like you said megaldons should not be a problem and mosasaurs and squids are to be feared. In reality a megaldons could take on both in a fight . And the size of the giga don't even get me started

Yep. Saw a special on Mosasaurs recently, they were the top predator in their era and very successful. They were found in every ocean and were a lot scarier than Ark could ever represent them as. That is just one error in the game in my opinion, but hey, it's still fun to play. :-)

Between the two yes. However, they evolved and existed in two separate ages in the geological record. The game doesn't really reflect the true size of a megalodon though since they were huge and hunted whales. :-)

A little suggestion for the speed contest between them when you got them to follow you. Stand right in front of them whistle follow then use command " playersonly " and they won't move. You can run away and then re-type the command " playersonly " and they will run to you. It would look a bit better than flying ( it looked like you were closer to the spino at times ).

Most inaccurate video I've ever seen on this subject. First of all, you clearly have never played Ark legitimately, as you would've realise that the statistics of the creature are spread across all areas of the creature. If the test was fair, a level 1 Rex and a level 1 Spino would've been used, as this guarantees an attack equal to the dinos' base damage. Therefore, the damage would've been accurate, and if done properly, the damage output would be: Spino - 50 Rex - 60 Overall, this was extremely unprofessional, and I see that the subscriber count is completely reliant on your attitude and enthusiasm towards making videos, however, I believe that if you cared more about your supporters, that you would've researched the topic before stating misleading information to 28,000 people.

And spino base dmg is:50, but don't forget spino has MUCH more dps because of the attack speed so, spino would win. For the damage part spino have 2 set of different attack mode, use mouth to bit or use there arm, and u clearly use mouth to bit cause u don't know that his arm is much better.... most inaccurate video I ever seen. Edit: also in Chubbydino episode 201, it show that yeti can beat a trex but now spino, spino almost beat 2 yeti.. so there is conformed, trex is overrated just because he looks cooler.

The trex and spino lived in different places but if there was a fight the spino would have gone is water to heal after the trex bites and when the trex ran after it in the water the spino *might* have been able to hold its neck or tail to drown it but so far no paleontologists (sorry if I spelled that wrong) have found trex and spino fossils together.or the spino was not near water and the trex would have killed it.

u should do lvl 1 dinos so they have like the basic stats. If they are lvl 225 they are randomly lvlt so its very unaccurate.

For the part where you checked their speed. Both dinos were slowing down eachother because they want to follow you in a straight line and the line was only big enough for 1 dino. I'm bad at explaining :( ~CGTv

Stamina? You can’t just look at the stats because their stamina diminishes at different rates. The _Tyrannosaurus_ has more base stamina, but it’s stamina also drains faster.
