I think the direwolf deserves a place on this list. First thing is because it doesn't need a saddle to ride, you literally can just hop on it's back. Second is it's movement speed, health and melee which is great. And last but not least is the taming process. It's not bad at all, yes it takes a bit but it's very rewarding in the end

Don’t compare stats of a dino unless they are level 1, level 1 is the base stats

you can compare stats on any level, as long as its the same. for example: level 1 makes no sense when you compare damage, since you want to know how much damage a creature can do at maximum, not minimum, so you would use 150, or perfect tames or perfect breed ones, etc.

The reason its dumb to compare past level one even when comparing 2 similar dinos at the same level is because when the dinos spawn in, the game randomly assigns them points into stats to account for those levels. So 1 level 100 argent might have 1000 weight when another level 100 argent might have 500 weight.

I'd recommend a procoptodon (kangaroo) over Gallimimus. Its running speed is only slightly slower, all of its other stats are better, and the great jump ability is quite handy for getting over obstacles or outrunning enemies. I love its combination of high weight and high speed. Before the TLC, it had downsides of easily taking a lot of fall damage and being unable to harvest anything that it could eat. The TLC fixed those, made the jump even better, improved its stats slightly, and gave it a second attack with high knockback. They're also cute :) Alas, procoptodons are super-rare on the Island map, so I usually stick with iguanodon or argentavis.

Christian Reinhardt not really i just tamed one today a 135 and its stats r amazing but it takes too much fall damage for instance my breeded one has 18k health and everytime it falls it takes 4k health off i wouldent recommend it for travelling. now if u tame a paraceritheom thats a good traveling mount its not too fast but if u loot beaver fams for pearls u can make the platform saddle for it and it can kill rexes and carry alot and its a good bullet soaker

Ayoub Khan Baryonx is much better as it takes less fall damage than the Dick Neck Dino that your suggesting can travel in two environments efficiently and if any land animal or small sea creatures enter the water it will win every time due to its tail spin in water and doesn’t need to come up for air what so ever

I am super late to this video but I honestly think that the Baryonyx is the best land mount for everything, especially travel. It comes with good base stats, it's about as fast as a raptor on land and a manta or basil in the water. I had a decently leveled one that could take on anything but a giga or titan. There is also no depth limit for the bary for some reason so i've often battle dunky's with it. The Baryonyx is truly the every man's tame

My favorite travel mount is the kaprosuchus, another amphibious leaping mount with a monstrous forward leap distance and remarkably good stamina. Not to mention the ability to grab and carry smaller dinos for food on the run/collection in dangerous areas, and they're just very aesthetically pleasing. They've definitely got my heart no matter how useful other dinos are, and the only kapro downside I've seen is a low weight stat. When being used to, say, carry a small number of structures to a semi-distant build location, they're excellent because of the ability to use tools and place structures from their back.

Good video but a few things. Argy's are the best mounts for transporting because they have a reduction in weight to certain materials. Beezlebuffo's also are fast as hell you just didnt show it sprinting in the video. Good video though, accurate imo.

you should add tapejara, it has a very good reason, it can grapple to redwood trees and cliffs so you can avoid predators and regen stamina, has a decent weight, and can attack when on land, not like the other flyers.

If you’re on a fairly flat map, an ovis can get startlingly fast very quickly. Spamming jump as fast as you can seems to chain the speed boost you get when jumping, accelerating the sheep to very fast speeds. As you can jump when you are only a fraction away from fully burdened this does have its uses.

CJ, I've got no idea if you'll read this comment, but I know it's something you'll want to know. I tamed a lvl 54 Iguanadon, and pumped it up to 1k health, and I believe 400% melee damage, the rest went into weight (he was a gathering dino). I stumbled across an Alpha Raptor AND a Carno. With precise timings, I only got hit three times, and killed both of them with the Iguanadon. The Iguanadon is my favorite dino, as it's very versatile and useful in any situation (except for hunting anything bigger than it)

Cringe Goblin dire bear is fuckin nasty dude. I tamed wild 130 starved it then gave it honey and it jumped to like 230 and leveled up a bunch of times immediately after. All went in melee and health. It was able to kill I think two alpha raptors one at a time but it was about dead after that but that killing power is nothing to mess around with. Great prime mean hunter

I would recommend a Pachyrhinosaurus if you can get your hands on one. Tamed ones can release a gas that forces hostile dinos to ignore you, so traveling on a solo ark is very easy

I think that quetzalcoatlus probably should be on this list. It's a pain to tame your first one, but it's so useful once you have one. They aren't too slow, they fly, and they can regenerate stamina in the air if you get off and stand on its back. Also being able to build on it is a nice added bonus.

For how i play and for all round utility because great stam great melee good health amazing gathering for meat and fiber and berries meaning you can travel incredibly well withtout getting encumbered because of its great weight and can take nearly everything but this is my opinion and i'm not saying it is the best combat mount just best all round i think. also what do you think is the best all rounder?

Honorably mention good mounts: Baryonyx for its fast swim speed and stun attack, Dire Wolf just for no saddle needed and easy tame, Megalania for its climbing ability, Pelagornis for its landing on water as a flyer, Procoptodon is fast and can jump over almost anything along with carrying 2 people , Pteranodon easy tame and fast flyer, Terror Bird good tame in early game and better than raptor, Woolly Rhino charge ability and carry weight

I have to say that Rock Drakes are pretty good too. They can glide for long periods of time. If you pump stamina you can travel across the map with ease. And they are loads of fun and you can have two people on its back.

My favorite mounts, are all speedy, for if nothing can catch me, nothing can hurt me. My favorite ones: Bary. A larger, faster, better raptor, with actually good weight stats, no limit to the speed levels, and it can regen HP with the tail spin. I use mine, for obsidian, crystal, chitin, fish meat, oil, and metal runs on the island map. And for taming. Griffin: It says enough, I have a royal griffin in my ark mobile world, and she's fast, with 800 weight, 10-20 points into speed, a ton of hp, and overall a great tame. And they can run. Beezlebufo. My favorite caving critter. Add 100% more speed, and it is a beast. Knocks back all the creepy crawlies in the caves with the first attack, knocks out with the second, amazing with the jump, and I use it to travel everywhere. Galli: Super fast, if leveled right, to the point that it's hard to control, I put every point into speed once. Let's just say, nothing could hope to catch me. But their attack damage sucks. Icthy: Fast, you can shoot off it's back, and nothing will aggro on you, while riding, unless provoked. I use them for deep water exploration. Wyvern: Always amazing, good hp, good Stam, good speed, great attack, what's not to love? Just don't jump off while doing the lightning attack- This is the end of my list, I'm sure I forgot a species or two.

Kind of surprised the sarco didn't make it. It used to have no stamina drain in water, now it has nearly instant stamina recovery. Incredibly fast in the water. Hangs out when you dismount to grab underwater stuff. Adequate speed on land. It can kill a wide variety of dangerous land dinos and it's incredible agility in the water means it can kill pretty much everything thing that's not an alpha. It's carrying capacity is pretty good as well.

I love the frog as it gives tons of chitin and cement paste. However, it takes a stupid amount of fall damage considering how far it can jump. If you’re going down steep terrain, don’t use the jump. Otherwise you risk trashing your buffo right out from under you.

The wyvern is the best travelling mount by far. It's fast, it can pick up almost everything a quetzal can except mammoths and rhinos, it has good damage, and good carry weight. Just always carry grapples with you. Though, I do enjoy traversing with the direbear, and they're easy to tame with honey. Good weight and awesome damage. Only downside is they tend to get stuck on random bumps and hills in the terrain. The gallimimus is fast, but it's low health and low carry weight are huge drawbacks. Plus it can be kind of wonky to control. I would say the procoptodon is the better choice. Much better carry weight and the jump ability is way more useful than just speed when trying to escape from predators. I would've added the Baryonyx and Spino, both are really useful if you need something amphibious, and the Spino's movespeed buff on land after it emerges from water is crazy fast. The Baryonyx is really useful in caves, especially the island cave with the huge water section.

The spino is great because of its fast stamina regen, speed, great maneuverability, and decently high dps allowing you to plow through obstacles and reach resources very quickly. A spino can completely regen its stamina in less than 7 seconds while standing still and less than 10 seconds while walking.

Why are Managarmrs not on the list? They are really fast, have decent stamina, can outrun a Gallimimus by sprinting, and can swim very well. Oh, and they can take down rexes with their frostbreath, and can fly with rocket booster feet.
