Wow. Been a very long time coming, feel like a child on Christmas morning seeing Santa has been. A new Urge to Ride vid! There's going to be a few uptight Triumph owners in the comments section, I can feel it. I'm amazed how much your XSR900 looks like mine, same colour same LC graphics. I've gone full Velocity moto LC900 and that gets around the wonky speedo with the duel clocks. Yes it's super fun to ride but have you ridden the big daddy.... the MT10? Agree on almost everything you said, those bars give a good shake if you really press on hard. Good to see you back. Cheers and take care,

Yes I've seen yours on film, absolute stunner (and much much cleaner 😂) I do like the dual clocks of the Velocity Kit but I wish there was just a relocation bracket that puts the dash in the middle, I swear this bike will give me a crooked spine from riding it over the years cause my head naturally wants to have the dash in the center but my bum is in the middle of the seat 😂 Thanks for the kind words Rich, I haven't ridden the MT10 just yet (almost did at an event) so I'm still a CP4 virgin and I cannot wait to one day have the honour! You crack me up. Had to sell my 2015 fj-09 2 years ago after shattering my ankle "not from the bike" and after riding for 28 years am now starting to have withdrawals. Before that was the 2005 FZ-1 which was my favorite bike of all so far and traded it in with 97,500 miles on in in 10 years of owning it. And a very hard bike to find for sale even used it was so good. The 2015 Fj-09 seat was like a plank compared to the 2001-2005 FZ-1. I'm loving the look of the 2022 XSR-900 and the seat looks ALOT more comfortable as I also have had several back surgeries. That's why I loved the FJ but not the seat. Thanks for your great review. One of the reasons I'm looking at the 2022 also is the display position. Like you, I dont want to be looking anywhere but straight while riding. Unless using mirrors because of idiots. Lol. Thx again

@@UrgetoRide ya I took alot of the med Noassatall when I was a kid and it worked. Butt🤣, the seat reminds me of the 2001-2005 "not the 2006 and after as it was plank like aswell" FZ1 and that was more comfortable than the FJ-09. When I do buy a bike it does take awhile before I pull the trigger as I will watch videos for up to a year to see what problems need to be worked if any or any recalls. And by the time winter rolls around have a good idea and can make a deal do to slow sales and trying to get models off the floor for new ones coming in. Just like a car dealer, they pay for them to sit there.

Few things, indeed you’re right, they maybe sisters but the mt and the xsr are worlds apart in handlng. Not better, just diferent. From 2018 the xsr has the same quick shifter, the same as the MT. Put an exhaust and the sound is delicious, addictive
@dougiequick1
@dougiequick1 Жыл бұрын
how could the same generation MT and XSR be "world's different" when they have identical frames, wheels and engines? Probably the same forks too idk....I think the only major differences might be the seat postion and a slightly longer swingarm? My guess is its the swingarm off the FJ/tracer for the repective generations ....of course this one in this video is an old gen with mostly deffernt parts from latest offering....my guess is its 90% an entirely new motorcycle from this one,,,,only similar in name and character

What are my chances of surviving if I get this as my 1st bike ? I really love the way it looks, but I keep hearing (understandably so) that its not a bike for begginers. I`m 32, had fast cars before so I know how to respect power, but still, am I gonna go to heaven if I get this ?
@UrgetoRide
@UrgetoRide 2 жыл бұрын
I get where you're coming from, and with your profile, sure if you stick it in B for a few months, get used to things and respect it, you *should* be perfectly fine, you'll eventually grow into it with enough seat time. But thats riding to survive, which is much much less fun, and theres every chance you'll learn some things wrong. And thats you saying you're level headed sitting on your nice sofa typing. What happens when youre out on the canyons and some 600 comes flying past you and you switch into primal you, the red mist descends and you foolishly try to play catch up. THAT'S when as a beginner you make big mistakes that can end up costly. Or you ride with a friend/group who are above your pace and you don't want to be left behind... you start pushing and thats when bikes bite. You wheelie and land wrong, you misjudge corner speed and end up on the other lane etc etc I dont mean to preach, but trust me when I say you'll enjoy the 'journey' much much more starting with say a 400/600 (considering your experience with big power) for ONE season, its really not much. Put in as many miles as you can, commute, track etc tinker with it and learn. Then after a year trade it up for this or any other big bike you like because you've got the foundation. Youll gain a much better understanding and most importantly appreciation for the bike. Not to mention the silly beginner mistakes (dropping it a stop lights, getting used to the weight etc) - WE ALL MAKE THEM - dont cost nearly as much :) Quite the Ted talk but this is such a crucial part of your journey and Id love it for you to get it right so you *stay* a biker rather than feel ah actually this shit aint for me, or I wish i did things differently. I hear loads of stories of people buying big first bikes and either trading down till they skill up (if they're smart..), learning things wrong, or giving up biking... So I guess some retrospection is in order for whats important for you :) Anything else let me know and welcome to the club !

Why are you reviewing a 2016 model in 2022?
@UrgetoRide
@UrgetoRide 2 жыл бұрын
Just in case this is a serious question.. not everyone buys brand new bikes. Most buy them second hand later once we actually know what they're like and their actual flaws and reliability record rather than what a reviewer on essentially a *paid for holiday* in Tenerife tells you what they're like at launch.

2022 model fixed 'most' of the deficiencies. Display, better. Not perfect. Better. And centered. Headstock, lowered. Ergonomics, more forward. Suspension springs and damping improved. Not perfect. Improved. Front feel, very much now present. Tank scallops, they actually follow the contour of human legs. Tank, frame, subframe, seat, panels all have a purposeful look now instead of odd shapes slapped on top of each other. Engine is bigger, fatter midrange, about the same peak. Gearing is lengthened a tad in 1st and 2nd. Switchgear, throttle tube, TBW, electronics, all fixed, updated, enhanced with R1-like stuff. Up/down quickshifter, standard. Cruise control, baby. WHY couldn't they give it better tank range? This is the 3rd time they've had that opportunity and failed. About as dumb as Suzuki's Katana 1L superbike engine with the tiny 12L tank. This, or the MT-09SP? This.

Cruise control is a big win. But ergo and gearbox changes lead me to believe this is no hooligan bike anymore. Really need to try one
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@UrgetoRide I own an '18 and have tried the updated one. In the sense of chasis and ergo changes, depending on who you are, I personally don't think there's been any real changes from a hooligan machine as it has been. The reason it was so wheelie prone before is due to the soggy rear shock (throwing it into pro-squat geometry under throttle), the rearward weight bias, and people yanking on the bars to stay on the seat when the front tire is skimming the road (headshake). It was rather a mess. I will be getting rid of mine soon as I can make a decision on what model to move forward with.

@@sherifhamdy9229 I haven't sampled the '22 XSR900 yet, but I did take out the '21 MT-09 and SP models and they are a revelation compared to the mess that preceded them. Before I had exited the parking lot on the demo ride, I noticed a giant difference. I own an '18 MT, probably going to consign it.

@@UrgetoRide Lovely review, thanks. I'm getting my 2022 XSR900 this month, hopefully. I hope someone does the obvious and designs a body-colour cover for the hump. Honestly, I'd even go with a two-tone saddle with the hump done in blue. What? Yeah, I know there's a black paintjob available, but it don't have gold wheels. Seriously, some people... :o)
