Skaven are probably getting a large day 1 faq since the reinforcement rules break the allegiance abilities. They already said everyone's getting one, and warscroll changes are in the cards too (they gave plague monks a new warscroll in an errata).

@@Arisawa_Heavy_Ind Didn't get one, but Skaven are in one of the better places in the army since the tome is so deep that you pretty much always have an option. MSU giant rats are literally one of the best units in the army since they can absorb an unleash hell for a negligible cost.

Today, GW have updated their erratas for tomorrow's start of Age of Sigmar new edition. I really liked it, for example - Blades of Khorne can take units of Slaves to Darkness and Beasts of Chaos as coalition units. Coalition units are not just allies, they receive ALL bonuses. Beastman units gain Mark of Khorne for free. Can make an army exactly like in TW3.

Don’t lose hope! We got off pretty good in the points department and I’ve been having some decent success with armour spam. Skullcrushers are great for tanking and sitting on objectives, totally not how they should play by the lord but hey, we adapt!

As a skaven player who always liked playing super verminous heavy lists this is really fucking disappointing. The reinforced units limit combo'd with the fact max size units dont get points reductions and my whole army just gets ko'd into oblivion.

While I like most of the new rules except for the trigger rule, some of the points changes seem weird. As an example, Plaguebearers lost their horde discount, going from 300 for 30 to 330, but in turn their support heroes got cheaper (except for the Poxbringer). Meanwhile Nurglings go from 80 to 90? Why? But I guess they're due for a new book anyways, so... eh.

Well thats across the board. They want to make heroes more impactful, Which they might want us to take more. So i guess the logic here is they will be "good deals" while troops will not, an example is removal of size discounts. Im just assuming this and being a noob i cant tell if gw massively screwed the points but time will tell.

Yes that was one of the things that probably killed warhammer fantasy battles another was also that towards the end new Warhammer Fantasy armybooks wasn´t that common. Breatonians still had their old armybook that had NEVER seen an update and still had to use those plastic metal models. Also many of the armybooks that came out wasn´t really THAT good. I once considered starting up a Tomb King army (after the latest armybook was released) and was told that unless i liked to play with an army that would lose 9 times out of 10 i shouldn´t bother. Well that doesn´t exactly makes you want to play the new armybooks and new armies if they are armies that will more or less lose most of the time. So yeah towards the end Warhammer fantasy felt neglected compared to 40k, kinda like they weren´t even trying to fix the problems that it had. I would almost guarantee that if GW more or less neglected 40k in the same way they neglected Warhammer Fantasy towards the end, 40k would die out as well and alot of players would migrate towards AoS since that got all of GWs attention.

Look at InfinityTheGame, not only did we already have an average of 10-15 models in a list in our last edition, but as of last year with the release of N4, we now have a Max of 15 models. Reducing the amount of models needed for a game is only a good things for players.

Playing around the double turn requires a player to actually know what they're doing. That's the problem with it, not any effect it has on competitive play but the effect it has on a new player in their first game. Even if a new player only gets absolutely shit-stomped 1 in 50 games that's still 1 in 50 games where that player may never play again just because of this rule. It's just as detrimental, and yes also just as fun, as the old nuclear bomb level magic from the later editions of Fantasy where you could just lose the game on a die roll. Yes, you could play around it and build to protect yourself, but not everyone knew to or knew how (or could for certain armies) and it 100% drove some number of players away from the game. The "wow" factor of it just isn't worth the damage it causes to the game's growth. Much like how not every magic set can be Time Spiral Remastered sometimes you need to make concessions with new players in mind. Not that it ruins the new edition for me or anything, I just think it's a big miss and the game could be even better had they removed it and spent the development time they did on "fixing" it on anything else.

Anything to help with un-fun alpha-strike armies is nice. Those drained all enjoyment from the game. No point in setting up if they got first turn, which thanks to battalions they usually did. Also happy there's ways to increases tactics, like ducking away from incoming charges; that just makes sense. You give up territory, but could save your unit from being destroyed. Still won't help much against extremely fast enemies who move outside of 3" unless the fleeing unit rolls extremely well on a D6.

Resident gutbusters player here to say 3rd edition looks sick lots of stealth Buffs like ironguts getting there 2 inch reach still and if you have a particularly fun loving play group you can run the hrothgorn underworld playset and have a ninja deep strike army with mildly buffed gorgers

Honestly this edition has for the first time made me like command points, I used to hate them because I'm such a pack rat and never want to use them, but now since it's use it or loose it I'm gonna use them, shame about preists though, I honestly like them but damn they got hit in the balls, hopefully armies that need them or can't use wizards get special rules for their books. (also hopefully khorne can go mortals next book, I whish troop deamons looked cooler)

I contest that ever increasing army size - becoming a barrier to entry - is endemic to wargaming. It is endemic in GW's core games. But many other game systems don't use the rolling army release approach that necesitates frequent rebalancing and army creep. Or they have army composition rules that don't need more models to play. De Bellis Antiquitatis has 12 units no matter what. Mortem et Gloriam Pacto is about 30 bases. Infinity currently limits you to 15 models so all buying more stuff does is increases options in army list writing. Other games like Warmaster or Pike & Shotte have every army out immediately with the main book release so it's all mostly aligned in cost already. Etc.

I'll be honest im kind of disappointed in this, I feel like the rules got really finicky and things that i love about certain armies like Gloomspites Command point gain and my lords of the lodge fyreslayers being gone seems just worse off. Some armies are just buried for the next few maybe months. I know its still early and there is room to grow into it but i find these rules just less fun.
