Both are incredibly important, making a play in higher ranks involves both the gamesense and the aim to execute it. Also, pretty much the entire team's default relies on everyone to be able to hold their positions, and losing a 1v1 in a default could be incredibly impactful

„Aim guide“ is probably what people put in the search bar more often as its importance is easier for them to grasp. It’s also what people see in like streams and highlight videos and such, and while you can immediately tell „this person has amazing aim“, the game sense and strategy used by pros is not that apparent

My aim is terrible, 13% hs and I’m in ascended 1 atm. General bottom frag but because I play use agents that benefit a lot from good game sense. Anchoring correctly, delaying pushes, defuse denial, not over extending, trading etc. Staying alive and not dying needlessly will go a long way.

I liked this a lot, but I think another good test would be to have the player be a 3rd party that is Gold elo with a Diamond and a Immortal/Radiant player taking turn on matches to guide him through. This way the small quirks of a player remains a constant through both types of coaching.

Of course to become accendant plus. You need both. But aim will only get you so far. Maybe gold 3. If you are above that rank most people are good at aiming and spraying, pre aiming etc. So beyond that point is when game sense and decision making making matters way more.

that's not true. i am a kovaaks player, not a valorant player, and most people up to low immo don't have great aim (aim being actual mouse control, nothing else). But dia-immo players usually have better crosshair placement, way, way better gun control, way better movement, and have better peeks. i am not great at aiming, but a freind of mine is GM on the Voltaic benchmark (believe me, that's pretty good even for a kovaaks player), and he is low immo as a chamber otp. He's just using the op and the headhunter as a crutch and dumps on everything that dares to walk in his LOS

I mean this is all nice and fun with a diamond but try the same thing with a bronze. Your best decision making doesn't do shit if all you do, when you see an enemy, is to paint a rainbow above their head. As long as you can't hit your shot at least somewhat reliably decision making can crutch your aim but only so much. Once you reach a aim threshold tho (imho usually around gold) it's more decision making than anything else. But this is also why aim guides are so popular. Most players are Bronze, Silver and low Gold. Those are the people that struggle the most with hitting their shots, to a huge degree because they don't have the time to play dozens of games every day to build muscle memory. That's why they always to to find a way to speed that process up.

I think aim is more important than game sense until a certain point, probably around high silver low gold, but by then everyone has pretty good aim. After that game sense and communication is what’s more important because the difference in mechanical skill starts dropping off as you climb the ranks. Like ofc most diamonds have better aim than most golds, but the difference is nowhere near as pronounced as the difference in aim between gold and bronze despite the rank difference being the same.

If aim was the only factor, winning would be more easier. I simply cant deal with enemies playing like 5 stack, while i simply cant rely on teammate. Enemies literally double peek or dump utlity just to kill me, while i dont have the luxury to make teamplay. Aim doesnt matter much to be honest. I even won many games, just hitting more bodyshots

It is true that gamesense is important an when to know what to do an not over heat where as aim is also the same an you need to land those head shots or else you can die first but I think information and knowing what to do and have consistent aim is all important an there is no superior to any of those two there both important watching streamers play an understanding what the enemy is doing an how the streamer is doing against it so you can understand if you are in this situation an you an fight back

hey do you guys have any tips? I played csgo since 2015, i was able to reach Legendary Eagle in csgo, and played valorant since it came out. I was able to reach diamond 3 too, it was nice. but suddenly i stopped playing at early 2020 because of uni. Now, I wanted to play valorant again, but my aim is very shitty. Do you guys have any tips or recommendations for a coming back player like me?

Gamesense is absolutely more important, but aim can seriously take some people very far. It took me since playing episode 1 act 1 to hit my peak which is Immortal right now. A friend of mine who has world class scores on aim trainers took only 10ish months to climb to my same rank(he was hardstuck plat/diamond for 8 of those months). I've helped him a lot to develop his gamesense, but still whenever I watch him play it amazes me what people with amazing aim can do in game.

I don’t think either is more important it’s more of a priority system of which you should be improving more to make it more simple let’s give it a 1-10 system you start with 1 on both but in low elo you can keep gamesense 1 but get aim to 3 and get to gold- plat and do fine but in plat player start also having 1 gamesense but 5 in aim here you can go about your play style however you want you could improve your gamesense drastically or your aim or even try new characters/ strategies like duo/trio/ stack queue to get out then in high diamond or ascendant you have to prioritize both from there on.

Aim and util mechanics that offer flashy moves/kills are definitely more entertaining to watch for the average viewer. Game sense is what ultimately wins matches. Not as fun to watch someone slowly take winning positions, and win with basic aim mechanics. But it gets the prize money.

Easy way to remember is Low rank(bronze to low plat) : Aim High Rank: gamesense If you've climbed to Diamond then your aim is already on point, that's where gamesense becomes more important.

But I'd say gamesense is much more important. All you need in aim is just okay crosshair placement, okay peeks and okay general aim (tracking, micro adjustment, etc...) to get to mid elo Meanwhile gamesense is knowing what's happening and knowing what to do. If you know the enemy can out aim you, knowing how they'll play and how you'll outplay them is much better.

Aim is the biggest factor in valorant and gamesense is the secound. My little brother is g1 and has better aim then me who is d2. Gamesense and aim combine but between the two is the agent you play.

even pretty knowledgable pro players like boaster will tell you that you need the aim as a baseline. All the gamesense in the world can't help you if you can't hit a shot, but outstanding aim can bail you out of bad situations you are in because of bad gamesense

Yes yes yes. I have seen many gold players who have low game sense than irons ..they are just their becoz of aim. That's how market of aimlabs boom and players are morons to put their energy and source to rank up...like they are getting some money or getting entertain or enjoying it. This game cause more stress than entertain...i don't think it is even to call it as a game.

Depends. If you want to be a good player aim is definitely not that important. If you want to rank up then yes, aim is super important because 80% of players are brain-dead and you can just get to immortal with aim.
