Lafraniere also had a late birthday so he’s playing his draft year mostly as an 18 year old while McDavid played his draft year mostly as a 17 year old

We have to stop with the Q being weaker than the OHL. True in the past but last 30 years the Memorial cup has gone almost evenly to the 3 leagues. Great players coming out of the Q become great players. Crosby,McKinnon,Hischier, etc etc etc

@@dstudaker how so? He hasn't put up the same points as previous number 1 picks, but if you watch the Devils play you see how he is a fantastic 200 foot player. He also was credited by Taylor Hall as the reason that he, Hall, won the Hart Trophy in 2018. Hischier/Hughes will be such a great 1-2 punch for the Devils.

I don't know. It's hard to get too excited about a rookie forward who's stats are in the "1 point every 3 games" range in his rookie season. I don't think this puts him in the same class of ANY star, or even semi star. Even Guy Lafleur, who was considered slow out of the gate, was nowhere NEAR this slow out of the gate. So it woulde take some kind of miracle breakthrough for this kid to be considered the best prospect since ANYone.

Wap Dahlin no where near??? He played u20 wjc in his U17 year and was good. While lafreniere played in his U18 year and wheren’t good at all. He underperformed. And at Rasmus U18 year he played u20 wjc and was the best player on the team. So thats the best compare you could do. Rasmus got 0.5 pts per game in 3rd best league in the world in his u18 while Lafreniere wasn’t anything near MCDavid’s ppg in his U18. In childs league
