Lafreniere is finally being utilized in the correct way, with the right players and he's been producing at an incredible level at 5on5.

Lafreniere has more 5v5 goals than McDavid, Drasliti, Barzal, Robertson, Petterson, Marchand, Aho, Ehlers. Imagine if he played on PP1 that is on the ice for 90 seconds an opportunity?? He would have another 20 points end of story!!

Just goes to show you that not all first-overall picks are going to come out guns blazing from the start. You have to have patience and let them find their game. Way to go Laf!

Rangers knew Lafreniere has to play with Panarin this year to boast his confidence and play. Good thing he responded.

I think the key to Lafreniere's success is that he is harnessing the power of Jeff Kent with that mustache

In NY there was a lot of talk about Laffy along with Quick after that game, but to be honest he's been playing this way all season long, albeit with better results of late. BUT forget the point totals, he's passed the eye test all year long and as his confidence grows, so does his game. If he were on the 1st PP unit (especially the Ranger one) he would have 70 points right now (instead of 54) ... and I think long term he will be an 85-90-point guy.

This season has been a tremendous stride in the right direction. It's all about the playoffs now. Can't have a repeat of last year's 0 for everything vs NJ in 7 games.

The sample size is still too small. He is going to be a superstar though in my opinion, after we stuff up this season (which we will) Laf will be the centre piece for the retool and we will be build around him.

he's been great all year but was really snakebit the first half. Him and Ovechkin had the lowest conversion rate on great chances or something. Ovi turned it around and now Laf is too. He's been making plays all season, and nearly all his scoring is 5v5 because they wont let him on PP1

I think the reason he's not on the first power play...is to take some pressure of the young man. He's on the line with Bread & Trocheck! That's the Big difference, this yr. 2 great Pro's to learn from. Trocheck makes them both better...LOVE VINNI👍Glad he's finally a Ranger...GO RANGERS ❤

Calling a 23 year old a bust is so stupid. Panarin is having his best season ever at 31 years old. Linemates matter. Laff is having a career year because Panarin has unlocked his game. Laff is a top 6 forward player on a team.

Internet scouting blew up at a funny time and I think a lot of us who were basically amateurs didn't have a realistic understanding of how long it takes for a prospect to break out. It was made especially wonky by the fact that the internet was screaming out their same anxieties abouy players lol! All these guys are planning out- you'll get the odd outlier like Yakupov, Puljujarvi and maybe Zadina' but generally when 6he critical part of the scouting community agrees that a guy is something special- it actually USUALLY is...

He was stuck on the third line. Surrounded by other kids. He needed to be surrounded by elite vets. I said it for years. Increase TOI and he’d develop. Thank god Lav thought the same thing. Also this isn’t football. Hockey fans expect this to be like the NFL where a guy is an instant star. Sometimes it is the case. But not always. Plus He’s only 22

Laf has more 5 on 5 points than raymond both this and last season why laf looks worse for many is the lack of PP tht most of the time is anywere from 1/3 to 1/2 of the points top players makes, and a lower icetime comepare to raymond, rangers have been stacked upfront compared to red wings.

More even strength 5vs5 goals than both Tkachuks, Kaprizoff, Barkov, Raymond, and a bunch of other big names…too many to list. Once he is added to the PP1, his points total will shoot right up. Imagine him on a unit with Fox, panarin, Kreider and Zibanejad…Only reason he’s not on it now is bc he was drafted onto a stacked NYRs team. But his time will come.

@@charlieb308 I guess you don't watch much hockey or read about it either or maybe you just don't have a clue what your talking about. The guy has 25 goals and 27 assists and only 2pts are on the power play that's pretty damn good. He doesn't play on the first line either. If the kid scored on half his high danger chances this year he'd have well over 40 goals that's my issue with him he gets set up a lot for glorious chances and doesn't score on nearly enoigh of them. He's starting to bury his chances and will score a lot of goals every year from now on he finally has confidence.
