Sagunto is great, as it's divide into two parts. You have the Port de Sagunt with it's sandy beaches, nightlife, Restraunts and so on. Then you have the more laid back old town which nestles below the awesome castle. It was 16' yesterday :-)

Congratulations, great video, as always. Next time do not miss Calp, and its "Avenida del Marisco" where you are invited to beer sangria and small tapas while you choose where to sit (or not). Just one tip: rice and citric were introduced in the XVIII century because of the agricultural revolution that increased a lot the productivity of basics as wheat. I would love to watch some similar video about Valencia, with L' Albufera, El PALMAR and all those restaurants at the island, and a long walk from their south beaches, adding it to Monforte gardens, and arts an science cty and la lonja space. Tourism office in Valencia should sponsor you.

Next time around, visit Jijona with its Christmas market and - of course - Turrón de Jijona. Don't expect a touristy town, because it is not. 25 minutes from San Juan/Campello with its 9km stretch of sandy beach, 25 minutes from Alicante and its Castillo de Santa Bárbara rising above the city. Happy to show you around :-)

Hi James, I can attest that the Costa de Sol is night and day difference with weather. Madrid winters can be really frustrating and bipolar. One year ago we were still scraping ice off the streets and cleaning up broken branches everywhere from Filomena. Here in Málaga, I hardly wear a big jacket or scarf anymore, I go hiking 2-3 times a week, and I fall in love more and more with this part of Andalucía each and every day. It’s an adjustment moving from Madrid to here at first, but it’s easily one of the best places to live in Spain, if not the world. Hope you enjoy your stay down in this part of Spain, saludos.

Where are the beat places to hike in Malaga? We visited and fell in love with the city (explored as much as we could, walking 10-20 km / day) and region pre-pandemic. We are counting down to our next trip and hope to expand into more hiking. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have. Cheers from 🇨🇦!

Altea is still a piece of paradise on earth and the surrounding area. I am from Alicante and lived here all my life and truly blessed for this. Benidorm was a small fishing village until 1972-73 which is when its transformation began Not the 50s

I visited Benidorm with my parents as a child in 1969. It certainly wasn't a fishing village then. Very touristy. However, El Campello, where we were staying, was still a fishing village with wooden boats being built on the beach.

James, Yoli and Lucia thanks for another great video. I was fortunate to have recently spent 5 weeks in Benidorm and over the years have made trips to Bodega Enrique Mendoza, Guadalest and the Waterfalls at Algar. My favourite pass time is to lose myself in the meandering streets of Old Town Benidorm, eating Tapas and practicing my limited Spanish on unsuspecting locals. Balcony del Mediteraneo at sunset is breathtaking. I've only been home 2 weeks and pining to go back. 7 weeks and counting...

You two always make travel in Spain look so fun! We traveled with our babies in tow in the US. Our first we adopted as an infant. We were at a resort in NW Florida, at medical conference. My infant son used the platex bottles and the only nipple I brought for it, broke. He was hungry and I was frantic. I called the front desk and they arranged a driver to drive me 30 miles to a store so I could buy more. Disaster averted! The little ones adapt easily to travel, even camping. We took our son camping when he was 2 months old, he did great.

Love the travel vlogs. Giving me ideas for a return visit to Spain. Travelling with kids does require organisation and flexibility. Like Marcia our first family holiday was camping with an 8 month old and 3 years later we did it with 6 month old twins as well. You will probably need to allow for spare time and be prepared to rearrange your schedule. As Lucia gets older you will need to schedule things that will interest her. Not a bad thing as you will attract families as followers and you will see and do things you wouldn’t have otherwise thought of. It’s only fair if Lucia has to put up with the Picasso museum then you have to put up with the Chocolate Museum.

7 years ago we bought a small bungalow in the north outskirts of Alicante City (cabo de Huertas) and was probably one of the best decisions in our life. Of course we vacation there all summers, but certainly we enjoy going there any other season during the whole year. Just 4 hours by car (only 2,5 hours by train, with public transport granted from door to door), makes quite easy to travel there from Madrid any weekend. Visiting Alicante during winter, autumn or spring time is much more relaxing then in summer, good weather is almost granted (not always, last time we travelled there last November we had “levante” windy conditions, a kind of strong wind that comes from the sea side with high degree of humidity resulting very unpleasant, but is not very frequent fortunately). We have enjoyed swimming in “calas” close to Alicante in November or March, and used sun tun creams in December. Places like Altea, Benidorm, Guadalest, Calpe or Alicante city, so crowded in summer time, are delicious to be walked at off peak seasons, and of course no mention to how easy is to find a good place to enjoy fantastic “gourmet experiences” in all kind of restaurants which result totally inaccesible in summer (fully booked). Alicante coast is a very nice place to live, and I hope to retire there and switch my leisure plans: to live in Alicante and travel to Madrid on weekends for living its stunning cultural and social life…. but just the weekends..!!!

Since living in Valencia, I have been told repeatedly about going to Benidorm, which is accessible via train and bus. I should be able to get out there at some point, even if Valencia has its own beaches. I will need to find the perfect time to go to avoid the excessive tourists in the area, but certainly not in January. Wines in this particular region of Spain are quite good so I am glad you highlighted that to the viewers. I thought it was cool that you got recognized from someone who has watched your channel.

From what I understand, the original Fiestas de Los Moro's y Cristiano's are in Alcoy. Each town or village usually celebrates it around the time of the feast day of their patron Saint. For Alcoy, its San Jorge, in late April. Even if you skip the larger festivals, the small villages hold them and are always a lot of fun.

Love the area and Altea. Cycling here is fantastic as well. Malaga and Cadiz are great in the winter as well.

Oh fantastic! I didn't know they had a museum of the Moors & Christians costumes - that would be incredible. If you've never been to a festival, so worth going, we went to Elche & somewhere south of La Marina - can't remember now, but wonderful! Just brilliant - loved that in Andalusia - Spring/summer, maybe?

Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy hearing the right amount of history and getting your honest take on the regions and of course love the views! I am working in Santa Pola south of Alicante/Altea and have one tip for you, if you are going to rent a place on the coast for the winter. Be sure it gets some sunlight! My apartment faces north and I have been really cold since November. It will be great in the hot summer months but I will be gone then. 😂 Looking forward to your next videos. Hoping things get easier with the baby soon!
