Legit, one of the best Co-op shooters of the last decade. Feels bad that the game was made to feel like a guilty pleasure, when it was just plain pleasure.

it really is. I just wish it gave us a lil more like 4 player co op. 3 feels a lil weird, and I also wish they had some new updates. the game has a small community atm but god is it fun. I think I have like 300+ hours on it

They are either extremely welcoming to new players who are keeping their beloved game alive, or they 'gate keep' the game, kicking and ignoring new players for not being good enough. With a low playerbase, how you treat new players is how you grow or kill a dying game. From your experience, it seems the playerbase has chosen the latter.

This game was worth the money at launch, nowadays I’d say it’s an excellent deal especially on sale. Only issue would be matchmaking for higher difficulties as you WILL need proper load outs and enemy knowledge to clear, the AI companions fall off hard

My SO and I keep coming back to this game, as it just scratches that specific itch, and it's quite good. It just doesn't have a lot to offer, so we get tired of it after a bit, then shelve it and, as I said, return to it later again. So despite not being the GOAT, it is one of those rare gems, that will keep giving.

I played hundreds of hours of this game and loved every moment. It's certainly not mindless when playing high level missions...it can be utterly unforgiving and your whole team can get wiped in seconds if you don't have a good build and coordination.

I would rather play this on repeat than Helldivers 2. Because if I could still die if I don’t play right but most importantly when I shoot something it DIES. I don’t need to empty massive weapons onto its mouth only for it to shrug it off.

So about the latency/jank of the game. It's peer to peer connections. So if the host is running the game on a toaster, you're all gonna feel it. Same with anyone using a standard hard drive, it is very noticeable lag points. Highly recommend installing this one on an SSD. Anyways, the official Discord is active and easy to find people to play it. A lot of us are more than willing to help new players into it. I will say the class builds and customization has so much you can dig into if that's your thing. It is a good game, shame it had such a rocky launch but it's a really solid game. I still play it.

what's funny is a random steam wish list suggestion led me here the day after i binge watched (to my monday mornings' detriment) the LotR extended edition trilogy in one shot. still hate the faramir change. hurts me every time. it still kinda works in it's way, but lessens his character IMO. he scoffed at the ring in the books, and knew who the bad guys were. wasn't mincing about grey morality.

Maybe turn down texture quality, you might have insufficient VRAM, this game requires a lot of VRAM especially if you are playing at a higher res with high texture quality.

It's not that, I have an RTX3060 12GB Vram card and 36GB of Ram lol. And other games that are more graphically demanding run absolutely fine. I blame Direct X12 🤣

its great solo, thats how i play most of the time. I have about 60 hours on steam and 30 on PS5 when the game released, Id say all but 10 of those hours were played solo.

@@ronnmozz probably get both eventually. Ive played Mass Effect before. Ive completed Mass Effect 1 about 7 times on Xbox 360, ive only complete Mass Effect 2 once but it left a lasting impression on me because it was one of the greatest games ive ever played and never finished Mass Effect 3.

I remember going to buy this game when he first came out and I was honestly disappointed the missions seemed boring and the Xenomorphs weren’t scary plus the game was third person which killed it for me I think I played it for a few days and then sold the game Fast forward until now, July 2024 Recently recently bought the game of the PlayStation store since it was only £7.49 And I’m still having the same problem with the game, however since the only other alien game on my PlayStation is isolation. I decided it was still a good purchase so I have an extra alien game but I’m still not a huge fan

Its honestly a really fun game its just unfortunate they have almost always had connection issues at least on Xbox its pretty stable and honestly if you like hoard shooters and aliens its fun as hell especially using the smart gun.

The biggest letdown for me was the simple fact that there wasn't a first-person option. I absolutely hate third-person gaming! The alien franchise was made for the first-person perspective! I beat the campaign for this game and immediately shelved it afterwards.

Alien fire team is basically a gauntlet. Alien isolation and Alien decent are quite different.I found Alien decent boring and alien isolation too slow and more intense. Helldivers 2 is the best.

Too samey through & through, the checkpoints seem to be pretty crap too. Literally feels like the same thing over and over again. Lifelong Alien fanatical who’s played Alien3, Trilogy, Resurrection, AVP, Colonial Marines, Isolation, etc… Fireteam is my least favorite by far.

Meh helldivers 2 is early access and pretty overrated but it has potential

AFE is actually far superior to HD2 (then again, the bar is pretty low, given how they wasted their entire potential) - HD2 doesn't have classes, and doesn't allow experimentation or "self-made classes" (like a sentry master with 4 sentries) because it only offers 4 stratagem slots, 2 or 3 of them being pretty much mandatory. AFE has character classes with specific abilities to allow some variety, in addition to the various weapons - HD2 despises casual players, and gatekeeps vital upgrade materials (super samples) behind impossibly hard difficulty (aptly named "suicide"). AFE gatekeeps some additional weapons (so, alternatives, not outright upgrades, which is a bit better) behind "only" medium difficulty - HD2 doesn't scale anything with team size. 1 or 4 players, you'll get the same number of enemies with the same max hp (they could have learned from Deep Rock Galactic, but no, why respect your players and make a humanely possible challenge?). AFE may have "not so great" IA, but at least you have CPU allies when playing solo I deeply regret having bought HD2, but I'm having fun with AFE, playing in my preferred difficulty level and not being punished for that by the game
