You see the poll when GMs are asked about their opinion? AD is disrespected on that poll as a defender. No wonder he also doesn't have a DPOY

Wemby will win it this year despite his team most likely being in the bottom tier of standings. The goal post will move and the voters will select winners way before the season starts based on popularity. AD is clearly the best defender in the league and there will be so many people 50 years from now who will never know and that’s the biggest tragedy.

Nah AD is just not as good of a defender as everybody says. His DWS, DBPM, and on - off shows that he simply isn't in the same tier as those like Gobert. In the season where he finished 2nd in DPOY voting, the defense was marginally better with him on, and this last season, their defense was significantly better with him off

All stats including advanced stats are heavily skewed by the team around the player. Gobert looked significantly better in advanced stats last year when the starting 5 had Naz Reid instead of KAT. With Kat def rating of 110.8, with Reid it was a defensive rating of 102.1 In the year AD finished 2nd, the team was filled with A+ defenders at every position. They were gonna look good in +/- regardless of the lineup.
