I think Shayne really hit the nail on the head. During the Defy era, they were working from a place of fear. Fear of failure, of taking risks, of bombing a video. And while Smosh from that time is/was amazing, it’s even more so now. Because they now aren’t creating from a place of fear, but from fun and passion, it really shows. I think that’s why the videos are doing so well now, because you can tell how much fun they are all having(like Sniper Chess and the live streams). Smosh is best when they are having a lot of fun.

The trailer for Anthony’s Funeral Roast was SO GOOD that I instantly bought tickets to the live. I hope Courtney knows how absolutely epic that trailer was, and I literally don’t care at all what happens in the live, it’s impossible for Courtney to disappoint me at this point. Buying those tickets was worth it even for the trailer, I’ve watched enough incredible Smosh content (and specifically Courtney made/directed content) for it to be worth it to hand over my money lol. It gave me such a nostalgic excitement that I remember getting for the Wild West Trailer way back in the day. Great work guys! Proud of how much Courtney’s grown :)

Rewatching this episode and I feel like this episode specifically is when Anthony’s return hit hardest. Courtney talking about their feelings when he was away makes you realize that. Smosh never faltered for me, Ian and everyone did absolutely outstanding during the time he was gone, but Courtney talking about how that felt for them and how his return felt really makes you realize that the heart of Smosh healed a bit when he and Ian made this move❤

Ok watching this has convinced me to pay for the live. I actually love you guys so much. I bought the highest level ticket because I’ve never been more excited for a live event for a channel before. It’s so SO fun to see how much the channel has blossomed since Anthony came back. I didn’t watch smosh as a kid like most other fans so my “old smosh” is what most people consider new smosh. So seeing how much more they can do now that they have so much support, it’s cry worthy.
