I take the fact that architecture is so complex as a huge advantage because I get easily bore :D so I can switch between subject while studying. And I created a technique called PP (productive procrastination): I focus more on aspects of architecture I really enjoy & I´m searching for my own sources on these topics, I have hobbies that are somehow connected to architecture (photography, drawing or simply anything creative is a great choice). When I look at it from this perspective there are so many things I can do, learn, watch yet still stay focused on A - that's the key. School shows me the direction but it´s me who must find the way.

This is amazing, love your determination and your awareness. Will keep this in mind for a long time! I share with you the fact that i also have archi related hobbies or interest and I love how i can integrate them in it. Archi is just so rich!

Lol this comment is giving me hope to change my course. i am currently about to finish my first year in Civil Engineering, but It's really stressful coz all the subject matters are hyper focused to math. I can understand math but my attention span can't cope up to just doing maths all day, and I also do get bored easily. I really wanted to shift, maybe this is my calling to do it once i finish my first year. Hopefully I will pass all my subjects before I do though lol.

This advice is so true, honestly the times when I pulled all nighters and felt like I was going to pull my brain out were all times when I didn’t really need to. If you show up to final review with an incomplete project - it’s okay, you might get roasted, but there are ways to save it, I’ve seen it. Architecture is a lot of work but I love it, I work hard because it’s important to me :D

Ahh this video came at such a good time! For the past week (week 4 of the new semester) I had not so great days, it was that amount of overwhelming that makes you almost cry at any moment. I was just so extremely overwhelmed with the workload, I want to do well in all my subjects but they each require so much time and work and i'm willing to do it, yet there is not enough time in the day! In particular, it was studio class, where we are completing task after task and are required to use programs we are just starting to learn, and being able to complete the task while learning the software was a huge challenge! Though this week past and thankfully I feel better. I found it hard to remember why i liked architecture, which is how eclectic it is across so many aspects of life, and now i'm starting to remember it. That's why i agreed so much with your second point, I absolutely love learning about anything and architecture is my perfect place, as it combines that with creativity and problem solving. I think I'll remember this week a lot and use it as a reminder that days like this will come and they'll pass! :) I just think Architecture is so wholesome, it has challenges and creativity and history and academia and frustrations and successes and triumphs and it is just a wholesome experience that makes life rich, I'm so glad i'm in it and I hope i continue (no clue where i'm heading, letting time decide :) )

Well…in Qatar university, you should just take and study: College Algebra Physics 1 Calculus 1&2 In order to unlock some courses… In architecture, you should earn 160 credits to get graduated and have the ‘Bachelor of Architecture’. To study the Architecture degree, It has 32 courses and all of them are 99 hours credit where you can take them within 5 years or less (if some courses are available in summer…) Will this be helpful????

Thanks for clearing up this aspect of studying architecture, it's great because most just answer "it's hard" and that's the end of it. I'm going into the 12th grade and I haven't decided on what I want my career to be. I love engaging in anything creative, I really love to paint (I make videos), but I'm not keen on becoming an artist as making my hobby into a job would probably deplete my love for it. I've been seriously considering architecture and have watched basically all of your videos, and each one convinces my further that I should pursue it, (my math and physics are good too, so perhaps this field will use my abilities to their full potential). However, my lingering fear through all of this is, under all the pressure, would I be able to enjoy what I'm doing? Would pursuing it and making it my career truly make me happy? Am I even smart enough? What would I have to offer creatively in this field? I'm not incredibly good at technology... I say this truly because every architect I've watched online says they had a passion for it as a kid (lego or Minecraft), yet I've never had a passion for buildings and structures, or even perspective drawing- Am I even meant for this field? I guess saying this makes it sound like I'm making excuses, but I'm afraid that I'd only pursue it because I'm simply thinking about it a lot currently, and then I walk in there and realize I don't have the right personality, or I don't have what it takes. Thanks again for taking the time as a student to make these videos, your insight into the study of architecture is truly appreciated.

The thing is, no one is made with "what it takes" to be an architect. The only thing you need is passion. Architecture school builds up the skills and confidence you need to be successful, no one is born with it! Thank you so much for sharing this comment DJ. I really appreciate hearing your story and kind words. I say there's only one way to find out if architecture is for you - and that's to get started! All the best to you, I'm sure you'll go far with whatever it is you choose. You're clearly passionate! Thanks again :)

What are your thoughts on studying architecture whilst working full time? It’s the only option I have to fund the degree 😩 There’s the option of doing it part time but then I will take double the amount of time to complete the course. Any advice?

I think it'll make it difficult for yourself but it's possible. It depends what time your classes line up with your work shifts etc, I wouldn't be able to make any of my classes if I worked full time 9-5 Monday to Friday.
