in 1905 scholar Rudrapatnam Shamastry was given the task of cataloging a heap of palm leaf manuscripts donated to the Mysore Oriental Library by and unknown Brahmin. It was during this mundane task that he stumbled upon a complete copy of Arthashastra. Imagine discovering a legendary book which was considered to be lost for over a millennium! The text was written in Grantha script (a South Indian script used to write Sanskrit used around the 6th Century CE). Shamastry wasn’t able to translate the script even after 3 months of discovering it. The story goes that he discovered the key in a dream one night, and was able to understand the script the next day. He published it in 1909, and an English translation was published in 1915

Yes, but the problem is, in the process of translation people are diluting the value and adding nonsense to it. It has happened with vedas puranas itihasas and Upanishads.

Small correction, chanakya is not a title conferred to him for his sharp intellect and wisdom, but because he was son of "acharya chanak" Similar to "bharat"- Vanshi being called as "bhaaratah" or "prtha" lineage as "partha" (or arjun). , vsudev-putra "vaasudev" etc., kunti putra - kaunteya

Kautilya's Arthshastra is an elaborate compendium of policies to manage state affairs. It has inputs from Vedas, Vidur Niti, etc and Chanakya's own realistic vision to build a strong nation. The land mass and culture of Bharat hasn't changed much since long time. Therefore to manage it's state affairs Bharat must take inputs from Arthshastra instead of Western philosophies in today's time. Which will be easy for us to understand and apply as we will be knowing the historical implementations and contexts.

The insult would have been one of the reasons.. However I strongly feel the main reason was the Greeks who won the NWestern battles because Indians fought representing their respective republics.. They fought with valor hence even Alexanders troops were tired.. At that time Kautilya was a professor in Taxila and Chandragupta Maurya was his students.. He noted and understood the importance of Unified India.. He and Chandragupta noted the Nanda being a major dynasty, then didn't heed any attention nor sent any help to the NW and republics after republics ( ganarajyas) fell.. Hence it was important to do a regime change under the kinda King what the guess in the video explained... This Maurya Empire resuled in the unification of Indian Forces to protect our frontiers till the Hindu kush surprising Sellucid and his army... The Result.. The greeks lost their second wave of attack and India was protected untill Asokas death.. Sad part- We are taught Alexander the Great who wanted to be thr Emperor of India but couldn't be... And never was taught in a way how Greek Attacks and Kautilya - Maurya was connected..

Correct. I saw the tv series mentioned and its fantastic and in pure hindi. The name given by his parents was Vishnugupt, his fathers name was Chanak, hence Chanakya and Kautilya came from the reference of his strategic thinking the kutil buddhi he had to apply to overthrow the corrupt ruler.

In India today laws are not being used to punish wealthy and influencial persons. One of the reasons is political interference and less policing because of shortage of policemen. Present government is trying to improve but is not do far successful to the extent desired. Stricter laws, simpler ways of judicial evaluation of the accused are very much required. In the name of proper judicial system crooks are given do many avenues, they escape justice easily.

Namastey Sir, I don't think Arthashastra is relevant today. Why? Because, since it's translation in 1915, Arthashastra has gone through all major countries like Germany, USA, Britan. Not to forget that it was bestseller there. They have already modelled their institutions, espionage system and others as per Arthashastra. Therefore, it would be childish to model our country as per Arthashastra as they already know the remedies and counter-measures (especially incase of intelligence and espionage). However, India needs clandestine research groups who studies and understands the Shastra cover to cover. Then, they should come up with the upgrades, which is relevant today and ensures the future of India. Arthshastra 2.0, Yes!!

@@vigiis agree.. However, human mind is limitless capabilities, that's why I said first step is to form a motivated, commited research groups. Their job is only to study, research and appy the prescribed methods to get the desired results. The next gen, which they will guide and look after to, will do the task of encrypting and upgrading the methods as per current needs, which suits the current needs and guarantees the future for another 2500 years.

Arthashastra, should become part of curriculum to provide the thinking tools to the people to understand the ongoing national and international politics as a first stage. Later developing a strategy to face the other countries can be a specialized effort, both in parallel and a second stage with respect to the public. So recommending abandoning Arthasastra now is not helping to counter the breaking india forces.

Few errors: Chanakya is not a title. Chanakya or Kautilya's original name was Bishnugupt. His father's was Chanak. So, Chanakasya apatyang puman is Chanakya. Like Hanuman is known as Maruti i.e. Marutasya (Marut=Air) apatyang puman. Chandragupta was not a kshatriya. He was a son of a shepherd. Very doubtful about Parth's capabilities of understanding things seeing such major mistakes at the beginning of the discussion.

By making Govt. understand that protection/upholding of Dharma should be the principle aim of the Government. In fact it is because of the observance of this important principle by most of the 500 odd kings, there was unity in Bharatvarsha although no passports, visa, common language, etc! This is totally opposite to the Abrahamic view/gaze where the kings/emperors outside Bharatvarsha were adversorial and selfish, etc. The breaking India forces emphasise this most vehemently all the time. This is the first time it has been stated explicitly, so immense thanks to Parth Parihar.

Chandragupta maurya was from a low caste, a peacock preserving caste, but very deserving person because of his tendency to uphold truth as experienced by Chanakya and further tested and trained by Him. He wasn’t from the kshetriya dynasty. Very incorrect fact put across in this video. Dhananand was also from a lower caste who turned adharmi and started harassing people.
