Alpha two was a BLAST. Made new friends, got a great feel of the promise of what Ashes could be. Props to the Devs for working so hard.

I think the reason the grind is addicting is because even just getting 1 level you feel more powerful and that what you have been doing was meaningful

Getting to level 10 and getting a green weapon drop is insane. :D Someone in my guild got a yellow drop! Like +50 dmg per hit compared to a white version of the item.

There were bugs, there were glitches, there were issues, it was Alpha testing and yet... damn it was FUN.

From masterchief0009: here is another take on Intrepid's timeline. 1.Look at how much is being released over A2 phase 1 and 2. I don't care how many hours they work, unless the foundations and meat of these updates aren't mostly complete, there is no chance of meeting these timelines. 2. Assume I am right on #1 for arguments sake. Based on Steven saying they are going to hire outside studios to do a lot of work on the world, the finished product timeline is not linear, it's a bell curve. They can hire 3 or 4 studios to do finish and polish work and 3x or 4x the volume of work done. I've seen a video of Stephen saying he is going to do it. Intrepid is building the foundation and tools now, testing those foundations and tools. Once that is confirmed, I believe Intrepid will have those other studios do the "monotonous" work that does not affect the overall gameplay and structure. Basically, copy and paste will allow most nodes to be completely built in minutes. He needs these first few nodes to work nearly flawlessly, after that reproducing the many systems in the node are literally just copy paste, change the name of the node, then link the systems. Completion in 2026 is now actually easy to aim for.

I agree with all of that

Love the game, can see where it’s going and the direction is gooooood! Had more fun in a buggy alpha than anything else I’ve played in the last 10 years. It’s playing with people and chatting with new people that really makes it special

It was a success for what they were trying to test. Patches came, and the bug got fixed. Better stability started to show up with every patch update. They progressed, and critical core game tech and server tech information was gathered. The DDOS attack will harden their security and backup plans in the future. I laughed at the idiot streamers who could not help themselves and pointed out everything the game did not have. They would default back to the game that has been developing for 8 years. Comparing a new up-and-coming gaming development studio to one established decades ago is beyond stupidity. Intrepid started with just a handful of developers for the first 3-4 years of their development. Most gaming studios have thousands of employees and have developed pipelines, processes, game-creation procedures, and tech. If the funding holds out in 2-3 years, this game will grow into a good game. This game's diversity in landscape, locations, and mob combat dwarfed the New World release. The group gameplay and combat were fun. In 12 -18 months, the game will make incredible progress. Once the core systems are locked down and streamlined, all that is left to do is build content, improve quality of life, and polish the world. For an Alpha 2 phase one, it was better than I expected. I expect the subsequent 2-3 Alpa phases will focus on the core game tech and features to ensure they have a solid gaming foundation on which to build out the expansion features of the world for years to come. • Combat felt good. • The visuals were good. • Mob diversity was good, considering it will only become polished over time. • The group play was fun. • The basics of the questing system were in. • The base UI worked. • Gathering Worked • The Nodes developed and progressed • The guild system and other core game tech, for the most part, were in place.

Better to break it now to get it fixed than to have it happen when it actually matters 💪

The server issues were maddening, but playing was very satisfying. There is a lot that needs to improve but the bones are certainly there. The leveling curve is steep, but the game rewards grouping, and grouping makes the grind much more fun. My best advice is to find a regular group or join a good guild so you can find a group easily

Don't have to find groups and guilds if you run one 😏🤣

I've been testing since August and have been having an absolute blast, this current phase of testing is about server stability and scalability. There was a PTR test last night and one of the engineers has a pretty good idea what's causing some of the server crashes and issues.

i think the grind will become unfun if they keep it the way it is , Lifeskills are my main pt , the lifeskills themselves donnt change enough with level gains to warrant the amount of grind needed. OSRS feels good because early levels serve their purpose and are fast , later ones are incredibly long. Ashes seems grindy for the sake of being grindy , imo i do think that philosophy will fall short if kept as is
@darklight83382 күн бұрын
Yes runescapes way is how they should do it early levels shouldn't be equally as long
@TangentsofCreation2 күн бұрын
The current phase is focused on server stability. The crafting system is currently very bare bones and will most likely have significant changes between the Alpha, Betas and Launch. Make sure you let that feedback be known!
